Woody Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 I have a one year old Beagle/Terrier mix. We've put in a wooden fence to keep him around our new home that we've just bought. The poor puppy dog. Just after it was installed ... he ran smack into it. The force was so strong that he knocked off one picket. Now the nail heads were facing him so he had to have hit that pretty hard. I tried to yell out and warn him but it was too late. He looked stunned but got up and about quickly. Being blind has it's difficulties especially if you are a young buck of a puppy dog. And you occasionally get really excited. Does anyone know of a good helmet for puppies? Any spiritual applications here ?? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Taylor Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 The poor puppy! At this point your poor puppie probably doesn't like fences too well...this one hurt! He wasn't being rebellious and trying to get out...he was just enjoying life...so he has no idea WHY you would put a fence there. But one day, perhaps, he will realize that despite the pain...you did it for his good...to keep him safe from the cars on the road infront of your house. Quote
Liz Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Poor thing. I had always heard that blind animals once they figure out their boundaries won't run into them again. I am hoping this is true, especially for your little pup. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Members phkrause Posted July 25, 2008 Members Posted July 25, 2008 Redwood sorry to hear that. But could you not put up one of those unseen fence's, were the dog wears a collar with an alarm when he gets near it. It seems that that would have been cheaper than an actual fence. I could be wrong. Anyway sorry for the pup running into the fence. pkrause Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Woody Posted July 25, 2008 Author Posted July 25, 2008 Thanks all for your posts. My dog does very well for being blind. He quickly finds the boundaries and memorizes them. Yesterday was the first day out and he was darting about with his usual knowledge of boundaries. Surprise. Smack. He won't do that again now that he knows there is a fence there. And pkrause .... yes .... we considered the colar and invisible fence. But I like to have him in my lap and pet him. The big colar would hinder that. Not to mention that I somehow feel uncomfortable with the whole idea of shocking my dog. Plus, I think the fence looks cool. Today, 'Buddy' is doing fine. Thanks all for your concern. I will pass on your love to Buddy. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 You know, Redwood, you're gonna have to watch those titles that you are putting out there....With the recent discussion, started by you regarding Poppy seeds and the interesting discussion that followed, I was begining to wonder if this thread wasn't the begining of some drug trade that you were begining to peddle. Or some thread on the abuse of men toward women..... Just thought you might want to ...watch that....but then again, it's fun to have a bit of fun at your expense. And i am sure that you will turn the tables just as soon as I make a blunder....Turn about is fair play, and all that...
