Stan Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Looks like some company called WEETABIX bought out ALPINE cereal... And it turns out now we have to open the box and pour from the right side.... nuff sed Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 WHEETABIX was made in Clinton, Mass. 68 years ago. As a kid I remember that it tasted like compressed cardboard. How do you suppose that it survived all these years??? Could it be that the Aussies have "different tastes" than Americans???? Quote
Members phkrause Posted August 16, 2008 Members Posted August 16, 2008 the Wheetabix factory is still there and pumping out the cereal everday. pkrause Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Naomi Posted August 16, 2008 Administrators Posted August 16, 2008 Pour from the RIGHT SIDE! Oh dear Stan, whatever will you do? Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Moderators LynnDel Posted August 16, 2008 Moderators Posted August 16, 2008 I love Weetabix (add honey, Gladussee), though it has its limits. There are just a couple of minutes after you've poured on the milk that it is good to eat before it gets too soggy. Shades of Ruskets... Don't know about Alpen. Will have to try it. Quote LD
doctorj Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Could it be that the Aussies have "different tastes" than Americans???? From experience in purchasing cereals in both the USA for ten years, and now back in Australia, Australians certainly do have a different taste in cereals than in the USA. Australians like cereals much blander, less sugary, and much less sweeter. On the other hand USA cereals tend to be loaded with sugar (just look on the side of the packet to see how much sugar), and tend to be "sharp-sweet". Australia's favourite cereal is "Weet-Bix" and is sold to 54% of homes in Australia. Sanitarium (owned by the SDA Church in this Division) is the maker of Weet-Bix and sells to Australia and New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. janamarie Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Why don't you just try Cream of wheat? The British have been going for their evening gurel for centuries with great results. I have been pouring it from the same side of the box for 50 years. It still works. No sugar. A spoonful of raisen's occasionally, or a cut up apple, but it's certainly not bland. Quote
