That gets into the whole issue of how much we should depend on the government. The government provided my mother and us children with food, shelter and medical care when I was growing up. They provided me with a free education and student loans to go to college. I really believe America is the land of opportunity. We have an excellent infrastructure of roads, bridges, airports, utilities, telecommunications, railroads and ports. We have low taxes and private property rights. We have some of the best universities, community colleges and vocational institutes in the world and financial assistance to allow access to them by the poorest of the poor. Our banking system and the Small Business Administration provides financing that really small businesses to become reality. I am really not sure what else we should expect from government.

I have kids in college...Grants are very hard to get. Loans, otoh, no problem. When I went to college, there were grants available.

Infrastructure? Tell that to the city that lost it's bridge at the begining of this year...Airports? You had better not go thru the controlers room...They burn out in 10-15 years. The air port pattern is scary. There is not a day that goes by that there is not a near miss between planes. Railroads? They are strapped with the expenses of the rails...and now, they only repair the most used ones...I live in a community where there is a train once a week...I live in a coastal town that used to have a thriving import/export bussiness. It now has none available.

You say that we are doing well....I say from where I look, it's pretty shabby...We are barely getting by....Sure, the big citys are doing fair...the rural communitys are stuggling....

What you are proposing is an elletist prospertity program. Where are the new jobs that trickle down politics are supposed to be coming our way? I'll tell you where they are at....they dont exist. That tax cut money went to some rich guys off shore account.

Quite honestly, I question you know what you are talking about, especially when you got rose colored glasses on...

I mean, if you've seen the videos from the RNC (where many more were arrested than at the DNC) of the riot police coming in, in full gear with batons, and arresting everyone in the vicinity, whether they are bystanders or press or whomever -- it is quite scary and inexcusable.

If you look at Moscow for example... the city just exploded with the "opportunities" that you are talking about. What kind of opportunity are you talking about though? Do you realize that people can't retire owning property anymore?

Concider this. If you fail to pay property taxes on your house... you will loose it. Is it really your property then? Or you merely renting it from Government?

Yes, the opportunities are there with people who don't mind to spin like propellers. Yet, you have to also ask where that "wealth" comes from. There's a twisted idea of "tickle down" economy... that is the rick Wallstreet people will reinvest their money and thus create more jobs and etc. But that's not the case... they invest money into money. You can't have a healthy economy when 20% of GDP consists of "moneychangers" speculating on currency. Inflation is inevitable... and they tell you it's normal for currency to devaluate. It's theft... the worst kind of theft when the Fed loans money out of nothing to a bank... as it taxes entire nation by means of inflation.

So, sure there is opportunity. At what price though? At a 54 Trillion debt from government, and who knows how much from the private and business sector.

United states went from the nation of owners and producers... the the nation of borrowers and buyers. Almost everything is leased. There's no sence of saving at all. It's a false opportunity at the expense of the future generations... all because people can't wait and want everything now. We even sell the food before it actually gets planted. How ridiculous is that?
