Stan Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Would any one come to a Political Free forum? OR is politics just too much of our lifes? cricket Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 ME, ME, ME...OH PLEASE PICK ME!!! Politics is so very much NOT a part of my life. In fact, I was wondering if you'd ever have a forum that was completely free of politics! (Was also wondering if there were any way I could "ignore" a complete forum like I can "ignore" people. Is there??) Quote
Planey Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Maybe just delete anything political which is posted anywhere but the "politics" sub-forum? Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

cricket Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Maybe just delete anything political which is posted anywhere but the "politics" sub-forum? Graeme I know this wasn't directed at me, but the real problem I have when navigating is that I'd like to be able to click on the "Active Topics" and see only non-political stuff. As it is right now, nearly 3/4 of the active posts are in the political forums. Weeding through the political stuff is cumbersome. Quote
carolaa Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Well, it should get a lot less in a couple months. Hang in there! Quote
Dr. Shane Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I know this wasn't directed at me, but the real problem I have when navigating is that I'd like to be able to click on the "Active Topics" and see only non-political stuff. As it is right now, nearly 3/4 of the active posts are in the political forums. Weeding through the political stuff is cumbersome. Click on the "My Stuff" drop-down menu and go to "Watch Lists" There you can create a list of forums you want to watch. Instead of checking "Active Topics" you can check the your "Watch Lists" and see the most recent posts made in the forums you are watching. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... cricket Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Fantastic! Thanks, Shane! I never realized what that would do. How wonderful! :) Quote
rush4hire Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I think there are too many forums already. I would start combining them together till I had about 30 or less, with the most popular at the top. It's just more practical. http://www.christian-forum.net/ has only 19 forums and 3 subforums, with 6132 members having joined since 2003. I've seen alot of forum boards, but I've never seen one with so many forums as on this board. Am I the only one? Is this suggestion helpful? No? Quote I cant make a sig with 30 chrs
Stan Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 I agree with that... have started looking at this several times... it just takes more work than i seem to have.. rush4hire Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 ..it just takes more work than i seem to have.. I hear that. I wish it would show on each forum how many posts you have to have to post on that forum. Funny thing. I replied to a topic in Town Hall. Then the topic was moved to politics forum. Some guy blasted everything I said, making me look like a buffoon. I couldn't say anything because I wasn't allowed to post in that forum. Also, I have never seen a feature like this used for over like 20 posts or so. On one Christian board you couldn't make a new thread until you had like 20 posts. Or something like that. I've also never seen certain forums restricted according to post count. I have 156 posts now and I'm only allowed to post in just a few forums. Not that I question your wisdom for this. It's just unique, I guess. It would just be nice if we where better informed about this policy. Thanks. Quote I cant make a sig with 30 chrs
cricket Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Some forums are free for non-paying members. Some are only open to full members. The side-bar to my right (yours may be different depending on your personal preference settings) reads: To become a full member, and view more forums. Dr. Shane Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I think paying members are allowed any where here and can start new threads any where. On our Spanish sister site, a person has to have 20 posts before they can start a new thread. This is to prevent spammers from coming in and starting SPAM threads. We had a lot of them at one time and once we set it that a member had to have 20 posts before they could start a new thread the spamming stopped. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Neil D Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Servant, I love it...unfortunately, the mood, at least in this thread, is NO POLITICS....and it's NOT time for campaigning.... I recommend that you go to another forum within the confines of this board....where you may campaign to your hearts content.... http://clubadventist.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/271/1/Politics Campaign to your hearts content....
