I understand why many Protestants are Republicans. They don't have the same light as Adventists do and are more focused on this world than the next. Adventists, I would think, would be much more independent and less likely to vote a straight ticket. (A straight ticket means they vote for all candidates from the same party).

Some have accused the right wing of dominating this forum. So far these numbers are not showing that at all. Not too many have voted but it looks like a good cross section so far.

The poll results have no correlation with the volume of posts and threads the overwhelming majority of which are dominated by a few right-wing conservatives apparently suffering from hypergraphia.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

All-- liberal or conservative or whatever-- are free to post on the Forum any time or as much as they like. The main rule is that people should respect one another personally while doing it. It isn't helpful when anyone puts down either all Democrats/liberals or all Republicans/conservatives. All parties are fine are, including socialists.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Seems we have some pretty active liberals and conservatives.

John 317, Jasd and Redwood are pretty conservative and post a lot.

Neil D, Bravus and Carolaa are pretty liberal and post quite a bit.

Cyberguy and Ichabod are rather conservative and post a little here.

Aldona, Coaspen, Tom Wetmore and Jeannieb43 are rather liberal and post a little here.

I post a lot, consider myself moderate that leans conservative but tries to be fair to both sides.

Seems we have a pretty good cross section here.

You listed 13 names including yourself. I notice that 12 people have participated in the survey. I might guess that they are pretty much from the names you mentioned.

I think only six people have voted. I do tend to look for the moderate position. And I make an effort to do that. I purposely try to avoid going where my feelings or instincts take me.

I think there are other moderates too but I hesitate to name them.

OK, at the risk of getting reprimanded. It seems to me Amelia and Taylor take moderate positions although they don't post here that often.

Oh, you're right. LOL. I was totaling both polls. Well, I do like your poll idea. Maybe more people will participate if you put one up in another month or so.

Okay. I hadn't had a chance to vote yet. But then ... you all know my vote anyways.

But to the question at hand ... why support a party? The answer is that I always support havin a party.

I think liberals like to party more than conservatives do, so you must be having an off day.

Rush Limbaugh always says that moderates are really liberals who are afraid to admit it. Of course, as a moderate, I disagree with him on that.

Actually the fence straddling moderates could go either way in that scenario. They could also really be conservatives that are afraid to admit it.

Now I think that may describe you, Shane - one who registers as a Democrat, speaks like a Republican and claims to be a moderate that leans toward the right.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....Seems to me that I heard that a moderate is a registered democrate who votes republican but doesn't know anything.....

.....Of course, I could be wrong on that and my alshimers is kicking in.... biglaugh

I ave never been shy about saying anything. I have always felt free to speak my mind. In Rush Limbaugh's world, and that of many others, everyone must fit into a box with a label. I don't view reality that way. I use to label myself Libertarian. Then I changed into a Conservative. In the past five years or so I have moved so much closer to the middle that I can no longer be honest and call myself a Conservative. But folks like Limbaugh insist I fit into a box with a label and if I am not going to label myself Conservative, I must be a Liberal.

Should we, as Adventist Christians, be supporting a political party? I am coming more to the opinion that we should not. This year I have a choice to vote for a radical, far-right wing Republican or a moderate Democrat for Congress. I have decided to vote for the Democrat. If, however, the Republican candidate was less radical, I may well vote for him instead. I look at the two candidates, judge which one is closer to the middle, and cast my vote.

These are my choices:

Zamora for congress

Congressman Hinojosa
