Stan Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 The most misspelled word on here has to be the word their -- so often it us spelled as thier... weird Off hand, I would say guys, including myself, make 95%+ of the typos... cricket Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Perhaps it is "of hand"! Hahaha. I tend to see the misapplication of the words their, there and they're more often than a misspelling of the words. Quote

Perhaps you made a typo and meant gays instead of guys. No ... that wouldn't work in the sentence. Look, I am trying to find an 'out' for you. But, I can't accept that guys make the most typos. Please find a way to recant this statement. I am not finding ways to excuse you. I would forgive you if you could find a way to include a 'spell check' on this forum so that 'guys' like me would not be displaying my stupidity. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. cricket Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Neil's correct. It is "i" before "e", except after "c"; or when sounded as "ay" as in neighbor or weigh. The reason science is different is because the "c" is not technically a "c"; it is a sequence digraph "sc". Quote

carolaa Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 .... and sometimes 'y' and 'w' . Oh, cool. I've never met anyone else who remembers the "sometimes y and w." I think teachers these days only teach the y and not the w. (Kinda like the way they teach that "and" replaces the comma in a series - ugh!!) Quote
