Love the Great Controvery tee. I paid close to that amount for a "Our Mama Beats Your Obama" shirt. But that was for a good cause. The destruction of Obama as president. But then that kind of stuff is in another thread. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Administrators Gail Posted September 19, 2008 Author Administrators Posted September 19, 2008 Quote: And these t-shirts do not promote love--they promote ridicule. They do, but who's fault is that? If indeed our faith is more than that, these people have not gotten that idea. Liz Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Whaaat?????? You want the BAD ideas too????? Liz, have you considered counsiling for this addiction????? What!?!?!? No!!! I don't want the BAD ideas. You said you had time to sleep on it, therefore, I thought you meant you had come up with something GOOD. I wanted the good ideas. Am I confused?? Neil D Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Quote: And these t-shirts do not promote love--they promote ridicule. They do, but who's fault is that? If indeed our faith is more than that, these people have not gotten that idea. and a good share of them are NOT promoting ridicule when worn in public... For example, an Adventist can promote the bible from the "Meat is for heathens" tee-shirt in the public setting. Sure, heathen is a religious word but juxoposition against a vegitarin word, it's almost rediculous...Compare that to some of the offensive tees like- "I'm with Stupid" with an arrow pointing to someone to the side of the wearer.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
cricket Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 An Adventist can better promote the love of Jesus with a winning smile and a loving heart. But ridicule does not come from a loving heart--ever. You said that "heathen is a religious word but juxoposition [sic] against a vegitarin [sic] word, it's almost rediculous [sic]..." And I have to agree--it is ridiculous, indeed. Dictionary: ridiculous adj. Deserving or inspiring ridicule; absurd, preposterous, or silly. See synonyms at foolish. Inspiring ridicule. Dictionary: ridicule n. Words or actions intended to evoke contemptuous laughter at or feelings toward a person or thing: “I know that ridicule may be a shield, but it is not a weapon” (Dorothy Parker). tr.v., -culed, -cul·ing, -cules. To expose to ridicule; make fun of. To make fun of. Since when is it EVER a good idea to try and woo hearts to Jesus through poking fun of others or even making fun of ourselves? I know that Jesus is a man with a great sense of humor. It is beyond my comprehension, however, to believe He is a man with a sense of "ridiculous" humor. Quote
Liz Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 But can't one just laugh at themselves a little bit without losing the bigger message? There was a time in our recent history when homeschooling practically had to be done in secret. Now it isn't like that, so if I wear a tee shirt that says "Homeschool Hottie", some would look at that and say that I was proud of my choice, that I wasn't ashamed of how I was teaching my kids. The tee shirt that says "Great Controversy" with drums on it, some people would smile at that one, and remember back to when their church went through such controversy or even what color carpet to choose for the sanctuary should be, as anyone who sat in such a committee can attest. These things are all the little trivial things, that seemed so important at one time, but now we can laugh about it, because we have gone beyond it, to the really most important things which of course is Jesus. We can't stay bogged down in the small things or we will be like the Pharisee's, straining at the gnats and missing the big picture. cricket Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Well...my opinion is that it's wrong. Of course you can choose to do what you want. No biggie. But remember, sometimes those gnats are the finger of God; and if God's waving His finger, we might want to pay attention. Quote

rush4hire Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Looks like a sick joke put on by the Jesuits or some other organization that hates the SDA church with a Satanic passion. Is it not of the Devil to turn the last message this world gets before 6 billion people die at the 2nd coming of Christ, into fanaticism? That is the most evil thing imaginable. Moderators John317 Posted September 20, 2008 Moderators Posted September 20, 2008 But these days doesn't "baaaad" mean what people used to mean by "good"? I guess you mean it the old fashioned way. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
