Doug Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/sto...worst_polluters I am not printing the whole thing because it's 5 pages, but to summarize, Smithfield Foods is the worlds biggest pork producer, and the way they treat their pigs and what they do with the tons of waste produced each day is literally poisoning the drinking water and the air. Members phkrause Posted September 23, 2008 Members Posted September 23, 2008 that's unreal. I remember when I was a kid, we used to go to church down in Manhattan. The church was on 45th st, there was this pig slaughtering house on I believe it was on 42nd or 43rd street and 10th ave. You could hear them squilly (spelling), it was pretty sad. I remember reading about how they slaughtered cows and how cruel that was, and how it effected there blood. Than I remembered where God tells us in numbers or Leveticus about not eating the blood, fat of the animals. From what I read in that article I could see why God says what he says about the blood. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Dottie Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Every year, on our way to campmeeting, we had to travel down a highway that had pig farms along it. Even though we tried very hard, as children, we could not hold our breath long enough to escape the positively horrible stench that came from the pig farms. that was probably about the time I decided to become a vegetarian!
