Gone Fishing Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Sat. night I saw the movie "My Best Friend's Girl." The trailer looked innocent enough, and Kate Hudson was in it, so it seemed like it would be okay. I tried to check for the review on Common Sense Media, but at that time, it wasn't listed (it is now). Well, it was really bad. We had thought about walking out, but after paying $20, we decided to stay, hoping it would get better. It was filled with distasteful, embarrasing humor but the worst part was when they went into the Jesus Pizza Parlor. The details aren't important, but this was the worst insult on the Christian religion I've ever seen. And people were laughing (??). "A nauseating fraud from start to finish ... The film's level of awfulness is nothing new for Cook, but Hudson hits a new low." Geoff Berkshire The lesson we learned is: If a movie is ever that bad again, we're walking out and asking for our money back. I think you can do that. And we're never going to a movie unless we check it on commonsensemedia.org. That site has saved us from many bad movies, so check it out! Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted September 22, 2008 Moderators Posted September 22, 2008 Good call: both common sense media and dove do great movie reviews. Mind you, the presence of Dane Cook should be a huge warning beacon too if you know any of the movies he's been in. Quote Truth is important
Gone Fishing Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 I never heard of Cook till this movie, so I didn't know anything about him. I'll check out Dove - thx! Quote
