Woody Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Yeah. You are right Stan. I would also point out the shocking statement about the economy. He said that he didn't know enough about the economy. Now when was the last time you heard a politician say something like that. Truth .... McCain knows much more about the economy than Obama. Just look at all the experience of McCain. Then look at Obama. Yet, McCain will admit that he needs to surround himself with the most knowledgeable people possible to help him with the economy. I like the truthfullness that I hear from McCain. It is so refreshing. Okay ... you Demos will tell me ... Oh Yeah ... But what about McCain last night telling an audience that he had fired his entire staff and put Joe Wurzelbacher AKA 'Joe the plumber' in charge. But folks ... That was what we Republicans call a joke. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted October 17, 2008 Author Administrators Posted October 17, 2008 The screw up with Letterman, the silliness over the mythical Joe the Plummer, the Palin Pick, the helter skelter game of dodge ball on the economy, false and dangerously inflammatory terroist rhetoric about Obama etc., etc., etc. confirms his military experience - he is a pilot... but one that flys by the seat of his pants and ends up getting shot down as a result... Despite the POW/Veteran halo effect he wasn't really very good as a pilot and only had about 20 hours of actual combat experience before he got shot down. And did you know that before that, as a navy pilot he had lost 4 other navy aircraft! That is 5 navy jets lost! The first 2 were clearly pilot error, the third suggested serious pilot misjudgments, the fourth was a freak accident before take off on the carrier which was clearly not McCain's fault and the 4th was how he ended up a POW. Three crashes before even being put in combat seems extra-ordinary that he was even allowed to fly again. Being an Admiral's son no doubt helped... Woody Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I am listening to Sarah right now. And I can't tell you how many times she is referring to Joe The Plumber. She is talking about 'spread the wealth' and how Joe the Plumber thinks that sounds like socialism. Talking about 'screwing up'. I think Obama screwed up by missing the mark with Joe the Plumber. Stan Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 It is interesting to watch from 'out of the country' MaCain can say all kinds of things, good answers.. bad answers.. indifferent... but then he throws in "I love my Country' and it seems like the viewers go soft /warm/ cuddly and go aweeee he "loves his Country" so I love him.. I know people who love God's Church, but they were horrible leaders.. Woody Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I think that is because Mr. and Mrs. Obama have both been hesitant to say they love their country. SO, it has become an issue. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted October 18, 2008 Author Administrators Posted October 18, 2008 So whenever the truth hurts you cry "SWIFTBOAT"... Go back and look up the definition, Shane. This is a legit LA Times investigative article that reports accurate information about McCain. That is the antithesis of Swiftboating, and you know it! You are so predictable, Shane... Can we say- No, it ain't!!!!! :Swiftboat attacks", as you like to call them, are where you attack with untruths. When the swiftboaters attacked, those of us who did some digging found out that the Swiftboaters 1] formerly supported Kerry, 2] made up suggestions that Kerry didn't deserve the medals the US goverment gave him 3] outright lied about Kerry's record 4] Ate thier own [see #2] 5] Violated thier oaths to leave no one behind. Dr. Shane Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 The Swiftboat Veterans for Truth focused on part of John Kerry's life that happened decades before he ran for President and even if it were true was completely irrelevant. The same is true for John McCain's pre-POW military career. John has stated that before he was a POW he was completely self-centered and arrogant. He claims that being a POW changed the way he completely views the world. So digging up stories about his pre-POW service is pretty much a swift-boat attack. And the worst part is, with Obama so far ahead in the polls his supporters should feel so desperate that they stoop to such desperate measures as launching swiftboat attacks. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted October 19, 2008 Author Administrators Posted October 19, 2008 Aye, 'cos we can see how well working with one who can't think of any mistakes he has made has worked... But seriously, I have to agree: admitting that he made a mistake makes me think better of McCain, not worse. As a general principle I agree that, freely and willingly admitting one's mistakes and offering a sincere apology is indeed a virtue. BUT that is not what I witnessed in McCain's appearance on Letterman. I am not qualified to psychoanalyze McCain's performance, but I saw a man who was cornered and insincere in admitting he "screwed up". And for those who ran Clinton through the wringer over his apology, McCain never apologized to Letterman, never even hinted at being sorry for stiffing Letterman at the last minute for a more politically expedient opportunity to be on the CBS Evening News. And Letterman backed him into a corner and called him out on what he did. His nervous laughing "I screwed up" repeated twice seemed more for comedic performance affect while they were joking around about it. In contrast, McCain prefaced serious points by saying "seriously" or words to that effect and had a serious tone and demeanor. I did not read his body language, and demeanor as that of a sincerely apologetic man. The bottom line was that he did it for nothing more than political reasons. His dissing of Letterman cost him political points and he was trying to cover his political posterior. I would be willing to go out on a limb hear and suggest that the tiny post debate bump was more a result of his Letterman appearance the next night, and its ensuing prolific coverage, than from his debate performance. The immediate post debate polling results do not correlate with a standing bump. But it is consistent with a late night talk show or SNL appearance. All of the candidates now very well that it is to their political advantage to appear on any of the talk shows and Saturday Night Live. Being a no show for that benefit was the screw up politically, and not that he was a rude no show guest that left the host scrambling to get any warm body to fill air time. But given the Rolling Stones article about him, none of this should be at all surprising. He will do whatever it takes politically to be the Commander in Chief... Dr. Shane Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 ...if you buy the story that his POW experience was McCain's Damascus road. I have not heard McCain describe it as a "Damascus road" experience. Few people have a "Damascus road" experience. I never have. Most of the time when our lives change they change little by little but their are milestones in the road we can look bad that pushed us in the better direction. McCain admits that his biggest morale failing was the failure of his first marriage. That came after his POW experience. So being a POW didn't completely transform him but it changed the way he viewed the world and his life. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Neil D Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 McCain today said that his Robo-phone advertisments are a legitament campaign tactic. The phone advertisments are urging voters to consider "the close relationship between Obama and Ayers". When called upon it, McCain refered to the 2000 campaign and said that these robo phone ads were in response to that.... .....who is McCain kidding? The 2000 campaign was him and Bush fighting...not the dems....Are we seeing signs of dementia? Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.
