FOXNews Must Be Fair & Balanced

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh rant and rave yesterday about how FOXNews has sold out conservatives because in their post-debate coverage their panel of "experts" agreed that Obama won the debate.

One knows they are in the middle when they get hit from both sides. The extreme left-wing like Media Matters and MoveOn.org have long blasted FOXNews. Now they are getting blasted from the extreme right-wing, Rush Limbaugh.

I agree....He can't hold them like he used to....and like most of the far extreem, he's begining to eat his own....

MSNBC is as much opinionated as FOX when it comes to politics. Keith Olberman is the MSNBC version of Bill O'reily. Being opinionated though does not mean that occasionally they do stop to do their jobs as reporters, especially if the matter is obvious. For example, how you can justify child molestation? There are number of things that even the most opinionated reporters can't justify. Even McCain and Obama blushed at some of the statements made by their supporters.

And you still have to remember that news network are after ratings, so capturing the broader audiences is in their interest. FOX suffered substantial revenue losses last year, so I think they are re-thinking their approach.

I think Limbaugh reaches about 13 million listeners each week. His ratings normally spike when he is criticizing something rather than approving of something. So that may be why he was getting on FOXNews.

While John317 says that Rush Limbaugh is his hero ... I would not go that far. I don't approve of pot smokin and Oxicontin drinkin and addictions ... but his opinions are often parallel to mine. He is just not my personal hero.

OK, I freely and readily admit I do very much enjoy listening to Rush. He doesn't necessarily always represent my political views but he is often pretty close.

I know you said you like him, too. There are millions who do.

What I meant with my little off-key rendition of 'the tide is turning' is that the audience for the rabid right wing media is shrinking, partly generationally and partly through people finally realising the real world consequences of that set of beliefs.

Well, I am not convinced that FOXNews is "the rabid right wing media" nor that their audience is shrinking. I think what we see here is some conservative commentators giving an honest assessment of the debate and Limbaugh getting bent out of shape about their honesty. I don't read anymore into it than that.

True - that is always a good sign of a middle-road news outlet.

But for my money -- I am just glad we finally has a voice out there in the news that is stomping the lights out of the liberal-left outlets and finally giving the public something other than an in-the-tank-for-left perspective of events.
