Moderators Bravus Posted October 23, 2008 Author Moderators Posted October 23, 2008 Yep. Actually, it's to Glenn Greenwald's blog, which I used to read when it was published independently, and continued to read once he moved to Salon. He's a very smart guy who writes interesting posts, what can I tell ya? But hey, how about discussing the content rather than the source? (And I'll try to do the same for info from Fox!) Quote Truth is important
Woody Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Quote: And I'll try to do the same for info from Fox! Hey Shane ... this might be worth it. To get Bravus to accept something from Fox ... would be cool. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Bravus Posted October 23, 2008 Author Moderators Posted October 23, 2008 Fair enough. Though I didn't say 'swallow without chewing', I said 'engage with the content'. If it's a lie I'll still call it a lie, just won't use 'it comes from Fox' as though it were an argument. OK? You're very welcome to do the same with anything coming from Salon... Moderators Bravus Posted October 23, 2008 Author Moderators Posted October 23, 2008 Um, no. That's not what the Ten Commandments say. You Republicans and your wacky moral relativism... Quote Truth is important

Dr. Shane Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 But hey, how about discussing the content rather than the source? (And I'll try to do the same for info from Fox!) Contrasting Salon.com to FOXNews is hardly a good comparison. Contrasting FOXNews with MSNBC would be a fair comparison. Contrasting Salon.com with Newsmax.com would also be a fair comparison. If I were to see conservatives like John 317 or Redwood posting a bunch of links to Newsmax.com I would give them a little grief too. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... jasd Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 RE: Greenwald’s premise is in his ear – his left ear. I note that Greenwald provided three examples. Let me simply provide just one and most recent contrapoint... “During an interview with Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Tuesday’s Situation Room, CNN’s Drew Griffin ripped a phrase out of a recent article by National Review’s Byron York which criticized the media’s coverage of Palin and characterized it as an attack on the Alaska governor. Griffin pointed out how "[t]he press has been pretty hard on you. The Democrats have been pretty hard on you, but also some conservatives have been pretty hard on you as well. The National Review had a story saying that, you know, ‘I can't tell if Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, or all of the above.’" In the original article, which was originally only in the print version of National Review, York used the "incompetent" phrase to attack the media: "Watching press coverage of the Republican candidate for vice president, it's sometimes hard to decide whether Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, backward or - well, all of the above." The transcript of the relevant portion of the Palin interview, which began five minutes into the 6 pm Eastern hour of Tuesday’s Situation Room:” DREW GRIFFIN: Governor, you have been mocked in the press. The press has been pretty hard on you. The Democrats have been pretty hard on you, but also some conservatives have been pretty hard on you as well. The National Review had a story saying that, you know, ‘I can't tell if Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, or all of the above.’ PALIN: Who wrote that one? GRIFFIN: That -- that was in the National Review. I don't have the author. PALIN: Who wrote it? I would like to talk to that person. CNN was asked to correct the facts and/or apologize to Palin. They declined. And you want to talk about smears? The MSM and its hangers-on (all company present, of course, excepted) are dishonest, disreputable, disserving the American Public – and ought to be jailed as Lincoln would have done. Moreover, point me to the chain that flushes the ‘loo containing all these sundry types – and they’d be g-o-n-e! in an instant. Twofers... So, ABC asked for an opinion on an evanescent ‘Bush Doctrine'; CBS misquoted Kissinger to make Palin look bad; additionally, an unnamed channel charged First Dude of incest with his daughter... Sheesh! the supposed high-mindedness of the lefters – is other than stunning – it is non-existent! Psalms 17:1 HEAR the right, oh LORD, _________________________ Hitler was a community organizer...
