A Deadly Sin

In 1 John 5:16 It talks about sin that leads to death and sin that does not lead to death. It explains that all unrighteousness is sin but that there is a sin not leading to death.

So what is the deadly sin and what is not the deadly sin?

There is only one definition for sin in the Bible and that is that is the TRANSGRESSION OF GODS LAW. (1 John 3:4)

Can there be sin without the law ? yes or no

No. Romans 4:15 says "..Where there is no law there is no transgression "

So if your dog goes and kills a bird, or if your toddler child squashes a little chick to death, we understand that they

have no committed murder , that is a sin guily of death. They are not guilty as they do not have a knowledge of the law. Their sins are not counted against them. We are told that in times of ignorance God winks but when the knowledge of the law comes He expects people to acknowledge their sins and repent.

When Adam and Eve sinned there genetic make up was tainted and we have inherited a bent towards sin. However we must not confuse "sinful flesh' with sin. We know that Jesus came in the likeness of sinful flesh but there was no sin in Him. So it is possible to have sinful flesh and to be righteous in the site of God. Lets get this straight -

1. Sinful flesh is a RESULT of sin and not sin itself.

2. Sinful flesh does not mean we have the deadly sin in us.

( in other words we do not have to repent for having sinful flesh)

3. Jesus has promised power to bridge the gap that sinful flesh has created. He Himself relied on the power of the Holy Spirit so that He could commune with His Father. We also rely on the Holy Spirit for the same reason to help keep us from sinning.

IF you read 1 John over and over he says about the need to stop sinning. He says that if we sin then we don't know God (1 John 3:6) and if we sin we belong to the devil (1 John3:8)

If we are a child of God then we don't sin ( 1John3:9) He spends the entire chapter virtually saying the same thing from every angle so that you cannot miss it and the summary of the message is : If Christ is in you and you are calling yourself His follower then there is no need for you to sin at all. Full stop.

You may say well what about the verse where it says 1John1:8-10 where it says that if we say we have no sin we are deceiving ourselves,then the next verse says that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If you notice that here is says that if we SAY we don't have sin. The point it is trying to bring across is that those who are without sin will not boast of this as they realise that it is only through the constant power of God are they able to walk on water. Kind of like when Peter was walking on water as soon as he was about to boast to the others how he could do it - he sank. So if we say we have no sin then pride spings up and we sin.

Another point is that - Temptation is not sin. However if we give in to the temptation then we sin. Some people think that if a rotten thought comes to their mind that they have sinned but in fact if we reject that thought then we havn't sinned at all.

Here is a trick question: Is sin a separation from God ?

This is how some people define sin. However the Bible teaches that separation from God is a RESULT of sin and will result in sin if that separation is continued but in and of itself is not sin. " Your inquities have seperated you from Me " When Eve sinned and she seperated from Adam her seperating from Adam was not the sin but the consequence of that separation was sin.

What about the verse : Behold I was brought forth in iniquity and in sin my mother conceived me " Is this talking about the guilt of sin or the RESULTS of sin. Are you guilty because your mother passed on some bad genes to you? No I think it is clear that this verse is talking about the results of sin and the condition of being born and being conceived in a sinful world.

The Bible teaches that Guilt is not transmitted from generation to generation ( Ezekiel 18:2-4)

KEEP IN MIND THE MAJORITY OF THE FALSE CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES STEM FROM THE WRONG DEFINITION OF SIN.

Even in our churches we get it all mixed up, some say that we will be sinning until Jesus comes. God forbid.. let us learn to rightly divide the word of truth.

1 Cor 10 "NO temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man and GOD IS faithful who will not ALLOW you to be tempted beyond that which YOU are able but will with the temptation provide the way of Escape!" --

I lot of people would prefer to answer "oh no He will not -- the Gospel dooms us to non-stop rebellion against God as a way to show honor and glory to Christ."

Making such nonsensical non-biblical arguments they in effect argue

"Anything less than complete slavery to sin is to dishonor the gospel of Christ -- is to become your own savior"

Notice what Paul says in Romans 2:7 about "PERSEVERENCE in doing good"?

Perseverance of the sants is a key Bible doctrine for all Christians.

John 2:1 "These things I write to you that you SIN NOT but if anyone does sin WE DO have an advocate with the Father"

Notice what we find in 2Cor 10 "WE are taking every THOUGHT captive to the obedience of Christ" -- that is the daily walk of the Christian - to submit to the Holy Spirit's work as HE transforms us daily by the renewing of our mind.

HOW can we possibly take a single thought captive to the obedience of Christ anyway?? Paul gives the answer in 2Cor 10 "The weapons of our warfare are DIVINELY Powerful".

Good news - The Latter Rain from the Holy Spirit WILL enable the saints to stand in that Rev 15 time when the ministry in the sanctuary ends.

Bad news -- who will receive the latter rain??

Here is my understanding of what the Bible says about the sin that is NOT unto death:

Quote:

Ifone person sins unintentionally he shall offer a female goat a year old for a sin offering. And the priest shall make atonement before the LORD for the person who makes a mistake, when he sins unintentionally, to make atonement for him and he shall be forgiven." Nu 15:27,28. Cf verse 22.

"Whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death. But if he did not lie in wait for him, but God let him fall into his hand, then I will apoint for you a place to which he may flee." Ex 21:12

The soul who sins shall die....But if a wicked person turns AWAY from ALL his sins that he has committed and KEEPS ALL my statutes and DOES what is just and right, he shall SURELY live; he shall NOT die. None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done he shall live." Ez 18:20,21-22.

Now for the DEADLY sin:

But if a man WILLFULLY attacks another to kill him by CUNNING, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die." Ex 21:14

Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this gage or in the age to come." Mt 12:31,32.

For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries." Heb 10:26,27.

Keep back your servant also from PRESUMPTUOUS sins;

let them not have dominion over me!

Then I shall be blameless,

and innocent of great transgression." Ps 19:13
