carolaa Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 You need to look at the projected electoral college. Not hot at all there. Quote
Neil D Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 From Yahoo polls.... Poll Averages * McCain ® * 43.6%- - * Obama (D) * 50.6%0.2% I'd say that a bit more than a 3 point spread.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw

Dr. Shane Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Well if it is over by 7pm Eastern Time that will give the loyal Republicans time to cry their hearts out, dry their eyes and still get a good night's rest before getting up for work the next day. carolaa Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 LOL. Seriously, though, don't they have to wait till 7pm Pacific time to start announcing winners? Quote
Dr. Shane Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 No. The media will start calling states in the Eastern time zone as soon as the polls close, based on exit polls. Sometimes they even call them before the polls close but many frown on that because it may discourage some people in that state for voting after it has already been called. carolaa Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Oh, yes, I'm confusing media projections with official results, which they don't even know right away. It will be interesting to see how long it does take to have an official winner. Quote
fccool Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I just hope that people can handle either candidate loosing. This campaign has been pretty cut throat, especially among the supporters of either candidate. The amount of animosity and misconceptions between people is scary. http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index....rallies-of-fear People can be fairly misinformed. Quote
carolaa Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I think the people will be able to handle it IF they believe the elections were fair. What worries me is all the talk of election fraud. People are going to be really mad if they think yet another election was stolen. Quote

Moderators Bravus Posted October 30, 2008 Moderators Posted October 30, 2008 And Diebold scares me to death, so I guess we're even. Um, except that ACORN was (alleged to be) involved in voter *registration* fraud, whereas Diebold has the potential to allow all manner of actual *vote count* fraud. Quote Truth is important
