The theory of the spirit

This morning i was asking myself if i could ask Jesus a question what it would be. I thought of the whole old testament being evil and the new testament being good thing. I asked 'is it a greater sin to hate God because we think he is evil or to love God while you don t really mean it, in other words lying'. Then somehow the following thoughts entered my mind. What we perceive as righteousness and fairness is actually the work of the holy spirit. We don t know what we ve got untill it is gone. So in other words, my concious is from God and can be summarised as the laws of God written on the heart. That which kept me from loving God is actually the defending of the holy spirit. I could walk away and say 'i don t care God destroys children and woman and whole peoples as long as i get to heaven'. Now here is my theory:

In the beginning of the old testament the spirit of God was on men, but they didn t listen to this concious. They chose to do the wrong things and thereby rejected the spirit of God. That s why God pulled his spirit from the flesh away. What remained was a human heart totally surrendered to its wicked desires. So if God destroyed peoples in the old testament he didn t destroy good things, for the bible tells us clearly that the fruits of the spirit are good things. In other words, without the spirit of God life has no meaning and there is no actual purpose for our life anymore. In this light i can understand why God would protect his people with the means we consider today as terrible.

In his mercy though, God prophesied in the old testament for better days. God said he was going to write his laws on the hearts of men. He also said he would pour out his spirit. This was all fullfilled in the times of Jesus. Jesus came to bring himself, but also the holy spirit. It is this spirit that gives human life value. Probably Jesus knew very well that the spirit was to transform the minds of men. In other words we again received the oppurtunity to live under the influence of the holy spirit. That s why the New Testament times differ so much from the old testament times. Jesus also warned us that every sin could be forgiven except sins against the holy spirit. So if anybody despises the old testament means, they are actually defending the holy spirit.

this makes it interesting to know what being sealed really means. Does it mean that God seals the ones that are absorbing the works of his spirit, or does it only mean we keep the sabbath legalistically?
