Administrators Gail Posted November 7, 2008 Administrators Posted November 7, 2008 Our pastor recently did a series on stewardship. He says that most of us who are in financial troubles spend their money on wants rather than needs. I then spent the next couple of times analysing my shopping trips and guess what? Yep! I do spend impulsively at times. Anyone else ever looked at this before? Thoughts? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 We are trying to do this in our budget Gail. Good point. I just blew it when I was at the grocery store today though. I love juices and I bought an expensive Peach Cider bottle. Bad Redwood. Bad. I think though that during these tough times ... we will need to do more of this. Thanks for the reminder Gail. And I will try to be more curtious also. A good start on my new year resolutions. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Dottie Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Gail - - I think you are so very correct. We are doing a lot better than we did when we had five children at home, and I find myself not spending more, but buying more things that are just totally unnecessary, mostly from catalogues. And a lot of is of questionable content and origin. Yesterday I started weeding out the catalogues by calling each one that came in the mail (and there are a ton of them this time of year(and asking that my name be removed from their mailing list. A great side benefit is that I'm "saving the forests," also!!! :) Quote
carolaa Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Yeah, save those trees - look at the catalogs online. Quote
carolaa Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Yep. I'm of the opinion that most folks make their own financial troubles. I know there are circumstances like medical debt and other horrible stuff that you can hardly anticipate or prepare for. But I'm talking about most of the time people get the consequences of their choices. Quote
