Since the Supreme Court struck down Washington D.C.'s handgun ban as unconstitutional, I don't think we have to worry about the federal government taking any of our guns.

Me, neither, at least for a good while.

Gentlemen....

Please, explain why there is a run on guns? Despite your assurances that the Supreme Court has ruled to keep guns in the hands of thier owners, gun sales are 2-3 times the norm....

This is probably as good an analysis as any on that question--

In a report released by the Associated Press, gun enthusiasts nationwide are stocking up on firearms, for fear of tougher regulations in the coming months. But has the same effect been seen here in Southern Minnesota and do gun owners really have anything to be worried about.News 12's Nathan Harrington has the facts.Nathan Harrington says, "With the deer hunting season well underway, gun sales in the area are bound to go up. But could there be another reason for the recent increase in business?"Mitch Lewis says, "With the new election and everything guys have been looking at getting into firearms, picking up guns, not knowing what's going to happen down the road.Mitch Lewis is part owner of Twin Rivers Outfitters in New Ulm.He says an increase in his sales is most likely due to the deer-hunting season opening this weekend. However, with President Elect Barack Obama headed for the White House, many gun store owners across the nation have seen higher than normal sales thinking tighter regulations will soon follow. But political experts say that's not a certainty...or even likely.Joseph Kunkel says, "The bottom line is that he didn't campaign to have stricter regulations of guns. Generally he's tried to avoid the so called divisive social issues."However gun shop owners like Mitch think people would be ready if a new administration decided to stiffen guidelines of gun ownership.Mitch Lewis says, "I'm sure people would be out buying guns or getting everything they'd want to have if it came down the road that you couldn't purchase a firearm anymore."But gun owners need not panic. With a tightening economy and a war on two fronts, political analysts believe there are too many other things to worry about.Joseph Kunkel says, "Right now the overwhelming attention is going to be on the economic crisis and foreign policy challenges. And I don't think Barack Obama is looking for a cat fight on gun rights."Nathan Harrington, News 12.

You have to agree that many people are fearful of an Obama presidency.

You have said it yourself....These guys are fearful...

Why?

They from that group of people who love hunting, who listen to the NRA who purports that Obama stands for tightening of the gun controls...The only gun tightening that Obama favors is on assault rifles....a different type of gun entirely. [my opinion is that there is no such thing as a rifle that is not an assault weapon.]

Kool-aid drinkers. Too much of that NRA kool-aid being drank out there. That's all it is.
