The question is:

Why would she want it?

Her goal is to be President. Secretary of State is not a good launching point. She is fine just where she is.

I don't see it as a good political move. But perhaps I am wrong. I am just not aware of any recent Presidents coming from Secretary of State.

Henry Kissinger might have made it if he was eligible. But who knows.

John McCain would be a good choice.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

Hillary will never be President. Her next chance would be 2016 and she will be too old to be a good candidate. Making her Secretary of State may have been a backroom deal Obama made with her to get her endorsement and prevent a fight at the Democratic Convention. There are better candidates. John Kerry would be a fine choice and he deserves it.

Why would John Kerry be a "fine choice and deserve" to be Secretary of State? Just curious...

I agree about him deserving, but I think that he would be an OK chose. I also think that Hillary would be a good chose. Also I think keeping Condaleese Rice would be good. I'm not so sure about McCain, but I wouldn't say no to him. Its to bad that Colin Powell doesn't want the job. I think under Obama he would be great.

Well John Kerry deserves it because he was the party's nominee and hasn't went off the deep end (like Al Gore Jr.) and embarrassed the party since not winning. He can also speak french. And he was in Vietnam. And is a hero.

Hillary Clinton to accept Obama's offer of secretary of state job

Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian has learned.

Obama's advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton's foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem.

Clinton would be well placed to become the country's dominant voice in foreign affairs, replacing Condoleezza Rice. Since being elected senator for New York, she has specialised in foreign affairs and defence. Although she supported the war in Iraq, she and Obama basically agree on a withdrawal of American troops.
