Moderators Nan Posted November 14, 2008 Moderators Posted November 14, 2008 http://grazia.ninemsn.com.au/blog.aspx?blogentryid=249830&showcomments=true There is an Australian delicacy called TimTams. These have nothing at all to do with Marmite. TimTams were mentioned on Oprah the other day by a couple of Ozzie actors promoting a new film. I am not advertising the film, but TimTams are one of the culinary wonders of the world and fairly addictive. They have come in various flavours over the years, including chilli, but I think only the standard flavour is under discussion here. If you know anything of the stores who will be briefly importing TimTams, you might enjoy their delights. Quote
Dottie Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Pepperidge Farm is a bakery that distributes widely, and Target is a store that sell things from sporting goods to clothes to foods. Quote
Amelia Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Wikipedia Quote: In recent years Arnott's have developed variations of Tim Tams including Chewy Caramel, Mocha, Double Coat, Chilli Chocolate, Classic Dark Chocolate, Black Forest Fantasy, Creamy Truffle Temptation and the latest Choc Orange, as well as a range of special edition varieties. In September 2005, Arnott's launched Tim Tam Balls, a smaller spherical version of the biscuit. A special edition strawberry variety was released in September 2006 with a portion of sales to benefit a breast cancer charity. In 2004, Arnott's caused a controversy when they released a range of alcohol-flavoured varieties of their products, including Tia Maria Tim Tams. Suggestions were made that selling these biscuits in supermarkets was irresponsible as minors could get hold of the product. However, it would take several thousand Tim Tams for the alcohol to take effect.[3] For people living outside of Australia, New Caledonia or New Zealand, it is possible to import Tim Tams, but no longer through Arnott's (they have permanently closed their online store); some international supermarkets are supplying Tim Tams: In the United Kingdom, a similar looking biscuit by McVitie's, the Penguin, is widely available, and pre-dates the Tim Tam by thirty years. However, many supermarket chains now import and sell Original, Chewy Choc Fudge and Chewy Caramel Tim Tams. In the United States, Tim Tams were sold on a trial basis in supermarkets in 2001 under the brand name "Double Trouble". Several retail and mail order companies sell Tim Tams in the United States, sometimes under the brand name "Arnott's Originals". As of November 2008, Pepperidge Farm-branded Tim Tams can be found at Target retail stores. They are available in Chocolate Créme and Caramel. These are made in Australia and imported. In Canada, Tim Tams are imported and sold by the Loblaws chain of supermarkets. In Ireland, Tim Tams are available from the Costcutter chain of supermarkets. In Israel, Tim Tams are available from kosher supermarkets and department stores and other retail outlets. doctorj Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Nothing better than eating Tim Tams with a hot drink. The flavour is pure delight with a hint of decadence. And of course it is not possible to stop at one . . . there must be at least three eaten in one sitting otherwise you don't get the flavour. Then after you have eaten three, you need one more just to remind one of the flavour so that you will remember them until next time . . . which in a few minutes you will need another just to remind oneself that you do have self-control and can decide when to eat another and when not to eat another. It is entirely possible to eat through the whole packet if you have enough excuses. BUT you would never admit to anyone that you had eaten the whole packet. For a person who professes peas and corn to be their favorite food it sounds to me like you need to update your profile. teehe Quote Lift Jesus up!!
