This report seems to hit the key point, to me: her supporters see her walk on water, her opponents see her get all wet. It seems to happen everywhere and all the time: some see her as the future of the country, others as an embarrassment. She seems to be even more polarising than Bush.

I don't think it reduces to her beauty blinding some people to her faux pas, but it could be that it's a policy thing: she very clearly represents a certain view of the Right, so those who subscribe to that view enthrone her and others run.

She is in the past now, and probably will be phased out till 4 years from now... that is if we still have elections .

It depends on what she wants. Those that did not watch her interview with Greta Van Sustratran are really going to be at a loss. For example, look at this misquote from the age.com story. "this week did tell an interviewer she was awaiting a signal from God." That is twisting what she said. It is either dishonest or sloppy journalism. Of course those that didn't watch the Sustraran interview are going to be susceptible to swallowing that kind of garbage reporting hook, line and sinker.

Her future really depends on where she wants to go. If Barack is successful and very popular, she may not want to run against him in 2012. Right now, she is not seen by enough people as being presidential. She has only two years as governor, just come out of a campaign where the media was vicious and she was limited by the McCain camp on what she could say and,,, the moderate wing of the Republican party is eager to feed red meat to the liberals in the media to go after her. However four years from now she will have three times as much experience as governor, be wiser about the media and free to position herself as she chooses.
