Stan Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Source By Neil Skinner » A church in Garston has been partially destroyed by fire. Firefighters are battling to contain a devastating blaze at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in St Albans Road. The fire has been raging for more than one hour and has partially destroyed the church's administrative centre . Eyewitness Jo Hart said: “I really can’t believe what I’m seeing, smoke and flames are coming from all over the place. It looks like half the building is missing. “There are police cars and ambulances everywhere.” Hertfordshire fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the blaze at around 2.10pm this afternoon. Ten crews are currently on the scene. No casualties have been reported. Witness Paul Day saw part of the building collapse. He said: "We heard a noise like thunder as part of the roof was coming down. It's really bad there - it looks like the whole thing is ready to come down." Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted November 16, 2008 Members Posted November 16, 2008 According to the report, it appears that only the administrative building areas were affected and not the church building. This is evidently the headquarters for the UK SDA church. What a terrible loss, in any event! Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
