Stan Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Augusta man files lawsuit against Sears E-mail this page BANGOR -- An Iranian-born U.S. citizen has filed a federal lawsuit against Sears claiming his supervisor at the store where he worked called him a terrorist, slurred him racially and denounced his religious views. Twenty-eight-year-old Kaveh Khansar Nejad of Augusta, who is a devout follower of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination, filed the suit Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Bangor. In the suit, he claims his supervisor unfairly denied him pay raises and promotions, and forced him to perform duties that caused him to reinjure his back. He is seeking back pay, damages, attorney fees and an injunction ordering Sears to take steps to ensure other employees aren't discriminated against. A Sears spokesman said the company does not comment on pending litigation. nuff sed Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Why would a release of information concerning this case point out the fact that he is a Seventh-day Adventist? ( I didn't mean here).. Quote

Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted November 22, 2008 Administrators Posted November 22, 2008 Fortunately the thin ice you perceive is not all that dangerous given that it thinly covers a rather shallow depth of understanding of what Paul was really taking about... Moderators John317 Posted November 22, 2008 Moderators Posted November 22, 2008 1 Cor. 6: 5,6 shows that the issue has to do with lawsuits brought between Christians. The idea is that Christians ought to suffer wrong rather than expose the Christian community to disgrace by showing its misdeeds in a public court. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
olger Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Such sentiments, harmonizing as they do with one's vocation may demonstrate in the process that our kingdom is of this world. This is the spirit of the Satraps of Daniel six, contrasted vividly with the words of Jesus the Christ in His Sermon on the Mountain. You are free to do what you wish. As for me and my house, we will appeal to the Law of God in our hearts rather than the lawyers of this world, everytime. God has a purpose in every trial that we experience. His purpose is that we would be refined by the spirit of Christ, and when we enter into a litigious evil-for-evil (which is what it is) we are refined by our carnal nature. The only thing they left behind is a note that they will be back, to get you and your family and a warning to not comed after them becasue they will shoot you on sight. To whom would you go? Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted November 22, 2008 Administrators Posted November 22, 2008 Ok tell me about it... They basic idea of the wrong-headed interpretation of this that really misses the point is like the familiar text we Adventist use as a proof text against wearing jewelry. The clear intent of Paul's counsel there was to "put on" inward adornment, of a pure and clean heart rather than just decorating the outside. That was consistent with the OT declaration, "Man looks at the outside, God looks at the heart." Likewise, the thrust of Paul's counsel to the Corinthians was precipitated by a group apparently unable or unwilling to resolve even simple disputes and problems amongst themselves. He even mocks them at one point that they should be ashamed of themselves because even the most simple-minded in their community would easily be able to solve their problems and disputes for them. His urging was not so much against the pagan civil authorities. (After all he stood up for his own civil rights as a citizen of Rome and ultimately appealed his own case to the highest pagan civil authority, Caesar himself.) He was urging the Corinthians to be mature Christians and to learn to work out their difficulties within the group. Tom Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted November 23, 2008 Administrators Posted November 23, 2008 Yeah, right... I bet you would call the cops in a heartbeat... Stan Posted November 24, 2008 Author Posted November 24, 2008 I get hung out to dry for saying what I am about to say. Going to court or laying charges is not always about 'getting even'. It is also about stopping them from victimizing other folks. Case in point, and this has to do with sexual abuse, and it involved a child. The parents did not want to report it, the person repented etc etc. So what happened? as he was not stopped he went on hurt other victims. BY not taking action, they would let Sears continue abuse other folks, he is stopping that, or at least slowing it down. The court systems are somewhat different today then they were 2000 years ago.
