Robert Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Sinead O'Connor and the Pope incident Okay, I know this video is old news, but does anyone know her motive for ripping up that picture of the Pope? Rob Quote
Members phkrause Posted December 1, 2008 Members Posted December 1, 2008 Very interesting video rob. I'm not sure of the reason, but I think if we listen to the words very carefully I think we'll have a better idea. My thoughts. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
cricket Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Sometimes the answer is readily available. From the same link as the video, the description of the video reads: Quote: On October 3, 1992, Sinead O'Connor appeared on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest. She sang an a cappella version of the Bob Marley song "War" in protest over the sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church. In the song, she changed the lyric that said "racism" to "child abuse". As you can see, she concluded the performance by holding up a photo of Pope John Paul II to the camera and singing the word "Evil!". She then ripped the photo into shreds in front of a speechless audience. She yells "Fight the real enemy!" before blowing out the candles and exiting the stage. NBC, to this day, refuses to rebroadcast this sequence. Quote
