Apparently the people of that notoriously lefty state of Georgia have inexplicably swung a little to the right on this one... Less facetiously, I think I'm actually glad to see the supermajority avoided - too much power in one set of hands, even if they're hands I trust. I just hope the Republican senators will consider the needs of the country, rather than narrow partisan interests, in the way they use the fillibuster. (And now you're going to tell me the fillibuster only applies to the House, not the Senate, or something. Meh, it's early in the morning here and I haven't had my vegie-coffee.) It is just the last to be counted. The people in GA voted yesterday. Those in Minn. voted Nov.4 Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Dr. Shane Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 The Senate is the only part that allows a filibuster. The House does not allow them. I do not believe that a filibuster is allowed for financial bills such as taxes and budgets. The Minnesota race is still pending but I believe that even if Al Frankenstein wins the Democrats will still be one short of a 60-vote majority. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I think the Mexican system is better. They do not allow a recount unless there is evidence of voter fraud.
