Members phkrause Posted December 7, 2008 Members Posted December 7, 2008 Again! what I don't understand is why they need a law to tell them not to open on any day, let alone sunday. I know that they have sunday blue laws here in mass that require that you ask to have your place of business open on sunday. But you can have your place closed any day of the week. The only reason I say again is because I ask this same Question on another thread but no one has really answered that. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 7, 2008 Author Members Posted December 7, 2008 I don't understand why legislature needs to be involved about *closing* a day of business either, pk. I've seen businesses close during the week to get ready for "going out of business" sales for the next weekend. Odd, eh? Members phkrause Posted December 7, 2008 Members Posted December 7, 2008 I understand what you are saying. But that pertains to being open, but to close your store that makes no scents at all. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Woody Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I understand what you are saying. But that pertains to being open, but to close your store that makes no scents at all. pk My thought was that during these poor economic times ... it is not profitable to be open selling cars on Sunday when few are selling. But due to competition ... they don't want to be the only one to be closed. They would prefer an equal playing field and to be 'forced' to close. Just my thoughts. I could be off in left field. Moderators Nan Posted December 7, 2008 Moderators Posted December 7, 2008 I do not know about the US, but in many industries here, there is extra pay for working on Sundays. Hence if wages for that day are more expensive, it would make sense to close. Of course if the sales people work on commission, that would not apply. Quote
Members phkrause Posted December 7, 2008 Members Posted December 7, 2008 Good thought redwood. I hadn't thought of that way. Makes sense when put that way. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Evidence that the initial leanings toward the enforcement of an alternate day of rest will have various plausible explanations, rather than religious requirements, to help the majority of the human race accept that which God has not declared.
