Guest Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 Hey Stan and others...maybe you tried this and it fizzeled or faded away.don't know.but on another site..we have kinda family thing going and have annual awards in different categories.. like the funniest poster..the most off the wall poaster, the most prolific, the most serious, the most erudite...scholarly, ...spiritual, ..friendly,.. gracious, political, scriptural, obnoxious, ranter, offensive, devil's advocate,etc.. We actually have a week voting period and then the results come in.. Whatever...doesn't have to be every year..ot let the idea die here..just a though since I saw the contest to 10,000 posts. Quote
Amelia Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 I nominate Nico for most erudite. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Quote <p><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="font-weight:bold;"><span style="font-style:italic;">"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you."</span></span> Eph 4:29</span><br><br><img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/weathersticker/gizmotimetemp_both/US/OR/Fairview.gif" alt="Fairview.gif"> Fairview Or</p>
Moderators Nan Posted January 2, 2005 Moderators Posted January 2, 2005 Seconded (for Nico) And the Valiant Leader award for the Stan. Quote
aldona Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 I nominate Nico for most erudite, and also for most spiritual. I think JimBob should be awarded the "ranter" award, (or "ability to turn any topic around to make it focus on favorite pet subject.") And Shane should get the "political" award, for his 100% unswerving love and devotion for GW Bush regardless of the circumstances. aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? Moderators Nan Posted January 3, 2005 Moderators Posted January 3, 2005 And Amelia should get the "Search unto the ends of the earth for something interesting/amusing/weird/informative" prize Quote
Amelia Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 I dont search unto the ends of the earth...just to the ends of the internet.ROFL <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Quote <p><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="font-weight:bold;"><span style="font-style:italic;">"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you."</span></span> Eph 4:29</span><br><br><img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/weathersticker/gizmotimetemp_both/US/OR/Fairview.gif" alt="Fairview.gif"> Fairview Or</p>
Moderators Nan Posted January 3, 2005 Moderators Posted January 3, 2005 Is that not the same thing these days?? Wherever you search, no one else comes to mind as a candidate for that award <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blink.gif" alt="" /> Quote
Nicodema Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Amelia definitely gets the "go to the ends of the 'net and bring it back" award (but what should we CALL that anyway??) Bravus should get the "fastest promotion from new member to moderator" award -- unless the longer-timers here know something I don't? And also the most broadly-read, well-rounded award ... I can't think of anyone else who has so many diverse interests and can talk about so many different things with intelligence, insight, and clarity ... Beryl should get the "most focus on the loveliness of Jesus" award for her posts. She is always making Jesus the center of her posts in the most attractive way, always focusing on His Love and compassion for the sick, the hurting, the sinful ... Definitely give Stan the Valiant & Enterprising Leader Award. There's a lot of people here I could give personal awards to for just being good online friends, caring and supportive people ... a LOT ... I can think of a couple other awards but they wouldn't be nice ones ... LOL ... so if I think of any more nice ones I'll pop in again ... Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
Nicodema Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Quote: I think JimBob should be awarded the "ranter" award, (or "ability to turn any topic around to make it focus on favorite pet subject.") He's in the running there for sure ... but I would say Robert might have an edge on JimBob in that respect -- at least in the "Biblical Theology" and "What SDAs Believe" fora -- JimBob tends to keep it to the TownHall mostly, but Robert is all over the place with it. Dunno, what do you think? A tie? Or we could give the Single Thread Hijacker award to JimBob and give the Team Thread Hijacker award to Robert & Gerry for their going neck to neck at it and devolving all Biblical subjects to their perennial favorite debate with each other ... Nicodema Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 LHC could be most scriptural ... ? Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot

Nicodema Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Nan, that's brilliant! Good call. . . . . ... um ... ... just so long as it is NOT misinterpreted to mean we are calling our dear Amelia a "dog"!!! That would NOT be cool ... Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
