Why do i believe?

...Despite the fact that:

- There is no clear evidence to support the bible?

- He never seems to answer me?

- He seems sooooo non existent?

- He could be a cruel despot?

- He doesn t keep his promises (he doesn t answer prayers, my ear wasn t healed and if you are without a leg, praying a marathon won t get you a new one)

- christianity has always been responsible for moral misbehaviour, whether it s mass executions or living in multimillion dollar mansions because you give people false hopes

You know, the main reason why i was a new ager and what i loved about it was the fact that real things start to happen. Now i am trying to wake up God, but it seems like he is frozen. It s not for me personally that it matters so much, but it is because if he doesn t help me i am not able to help others. I can t stand it that the large majority of this world suffers and nobody seems to care because they are preoccupied with themselves.

TS, if you think the world is bad now, just wait. It won't better. It's going to get many times worse before it's all over.

TS, you've had a lot of members here on the forum give you good advice and information. At times, you've gone wild and asked for forgiveness and so on, while on the other hand, you've tried to put God in your own little box and make Him be and do what YOU wanted Him to be and do for you.

It seems that you have convinced yourself what you want to believe. I'm not going to try and stop you or even confront you about issues anymore. Others might.

TS, I think it should be clear by now that God does not reveal Himself to people through means of random miracles. Biblically, if you believe what is written, He performed 1000s of miracles when he lead the nation of Israel out of the Egypt, and yet still they did not believe and rebelled. What good would a miracle or a sign do in your case really? If you are motivated by miracles and signs to believe God, then I suggest you are wasting your time. There will be no sign in heaven for you ... just like there was no sign for people in the days of Noah, but Noah himself. The faith is faith exactly for reasons that it can't be proven. Otherwise it would be cold hard fact and not faith, which still does not guarantee that you will except God ... just like in cases with Israel and the fallen angels.

For the most part, our knowledge is a faith based second hand knowledge. I've never been to Australia, but I've seen the footage of it, I've seen the world map, and it is taught in schools.

Well, sure... the footage could have been a doctored footage from Africa, the maps could have been falsified, and the school system is wrong about many other things. It still would not invalidate the existence of Australia.

I guess my point is that YOU choose to believe whatever it is you choose to believe, but don't go around choosing what's better. Choose based on evidence and truth. I know it can be extremely hard in the realm of faith, but all of us have no problem believing in a concept of a physical country for example... while the "physical country" is a mental construct of people. The same goes for economy. there's not physical economy... it's a mental construct of people to measure something. Yet we have no problem believing that it exists, because we can see causes and effects.

If everything has a cause, then something MUST be uncaused. If God caused the world, he caused it for a reason. If he wanted to inflict pain, he would have derived you of any pleasures. There are much pleasures, and much pain too, but not all pain is bad. Without pain much of us would be dead today. Pain serves its purpose.

So, think about these before jumping to hasty conclusions about the fairness of God. God is not obligated to answer your prayers just like you are not obligated to give money to anyone who asks. If He exists, He already given you a world to enjoy... with all of its beauty and splendor. A mouth that tastes the delicious food, a brain that enjoys the aesthetic beauty and can appreciate love and have emotions, companions and friends so you won't feel alone.

What more would you want? I would rather exist with all of the current problems, than not exist with no problems. Think about that.

Truthseeker007, your picture says it all.....

Three years ago we gave that picture in the form of a lapel pin to all the children on our camp meeting campgrounds because we wanted them to know that Jesus loves them in a very special way. I know that that picture says the same thing to you. When times are rough, have confidence that Jesus holds you in His arms just as that picture shows. That is all you, I or anyone needs to know about Him, He will do the rest.
