fccool Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 http://www.clubadventist.com/forum/ubbth...html#Post210211 I think I posted an excerpt of it on this board a while ago. That's probably where you seen it. Quote
Lineman Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Thanks, I found the other thread. Not done reading it though. Nice work. The question I now have is if your artical is correct why do we need ANY full length films about anything? Seems we need to be putting very short stuff out there that can be seen on iphones and cell phones in the few minutes people have between whatever they are doing. Only problem for me is that I know nothing about this kind of stuff, but I sure see a need. Am I wrong here? Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! Lineman Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 What keeps coming to mind as I read your article is that we need very short film/movies that teach like Jesus did. Short parables that will be remembered long after the iphone and cellphone is turned off. Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! Lineman Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Unfortunately this is the case for the most things that carry the label “Christian”, be it a Christian movie, Christian TV station, Christian radio, or a Christian book. I’m not trying to discard the need of such nourishment for existing believers. Yet many of these things that begin with mass evangelism in mind, find their way in a place where the evangelism is needed the least – existing body of believers. The "choir" really needs to be fed too, but that is not whom I am feeling a burden for right now. Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! Lineman Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 You who know about what is being used by the "movers and shakers", what is it that they are using and what file type is needed to reach them? How are these people finding what they want to watch? Where can I go to find out more about this kind of stuff? Quote Visit and Share the BibleTimelines.com URL ! Moderators Kevin H Posted January 12, 2009 Moderators Posted January 12, 2009 I've always thought the story of Harry Orchard would make a great movie. Also, years ago, I was talking with Dan Mathews about a possible movie on the issues of the Great Controversy: the orgin of evil, the three deceptions of satan etc. Quote
SivartM Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I don't know if I'm supposed to leave old topics alone, but I just had to say... I've always dreamed about a movie based on the early Adventist pioneers, the Millerite movement, great disappointment, and especially the life and experience of Ellen White. That's something I would definitely go see. It would be a great way to teach kids about the history of our church in a visually engaging way, and see Ellen White as a real person. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." - Jesus
Administrators Gail Posted February 6, 2009 Administrators Posted February 6, 2009 Keepers of the Flame kinda did that... That is still available through your local ABC Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
SivartM Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I like Keepers of the Flame, but it was made decades ago and a modern full-length movie production would be even more awesome. :D Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. Administrators Gail Posted February 6, 2009 Administrators Posted February 6, 2009 I agree! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

GreatLakesGramma Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Why would it be wrong? Sherwood Baptist Church (makers of Flywheel, Facing the Giants, and Fireproof) got into making movies specifically in order to reach people who couldn't be reached in more conventional ways. And it's been working. People who have seen their films have recommitted their lives to the Lord, and some viewers of Fireproof have made professions of faith for the first time. For them, it is not about entertainment. It's evangelistic. Why shouldn't Adventists do the same? Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Members phkrause Posted February 15, 2009 Members Posted February 15, 2009 I also understand that the movie the Passion by Mel Gibson, was taken well by many Muslims! pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Cosmin M. Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 There is one movie on http://intercer.net/ that is really good. But there would be no point in showing it to you guys because it is in Romanian. :( Quote
