Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 26, 2008 Members Posted December 26, 2008 This is the 14th day in a row that it has snowed here in Oregon where I live, with sub-freezing weather - getting above freezing occasionally, but not down on the ground. We usually rarely have snow, even then, just for a day or two. But NOW it has piled up to more than 2 feet deep. I don't have a truck. I don't have 4WD. I have a little car. I was told (after I bought my car) that my car can not have studded tires or use chains. I have been stuck in my house for two solid weeks and I'm going stir crazy!!!! (no commentary on THAT, please! :smile: ) The road outside my house is solid ice and even the 4WD with chains are getting stuck. Snow, snow, go away!!!!! Amelia Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I agree rudy. This sucks big time. Once again I can't get out to work. I offered to go by bus, but was told I couldn't do that. Say wa'??? Weird. Anyway now I'm sure that my boss thinks I'm faking. I just wish she would come over here and look. Other people here can't get their cars AND suvs out. Even the freekin' garbage truck, with chains on it's doolies got stuck several times!! I'm ready to pull my hair out. And I'm tired of being thought of as a liar and lazy bumette. Amelia Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 LOL You would think but it doesn't work that way here. My boss actually lives in Washington. Across the river from Oregon. I live at the mouth of the gorge which can create it's own little micro weather system that differs from others. The first time we got snow here it didn't snow at all in Washington. It's weird. I am still confused why your boss won't let you take the bus. I would get the shovel only if I would be able to drive somewhere. You'd break your back trying to dig out your car. And they say there're no snow shovels left to be bought in the area anyway. So not only do I have to get out of my parking spot but I have to also get through about 2 blocks of snow covered drive to get to the main street. That is my problem. The complex mgrs aren't doing anything about the parking lot. I really wouldn't waste the energy to dig my car out if I couldn't even get out of the parking lot. Unless you want to dig the whole lot out, which I am sure you don't. <grin> The only other suggestion would be to see if another employee could come and pick you up. darlene Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Today I went to our office in Abbotsford, BC, to feed my little buddies (5 squirrels)and the parking lot had 1 1/2 feet of snow and I got stuck. Worked my way out though. Tomorrow it's supposed to get up to 9 degrees C (0 degrees C is freezing) and have heavy rain. So....what is going to happen to the snow? They are warning of flooding. Quote
