Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 31, 2008 Members Posted December 31, 2008 Oregon is known for its rain, rain, and more rain (and snow this year!), but will we have enough water in the future? Quote: Available water many not meet Oregon's needs PORTLAND, Ore. — The words "Oregon" and "rain" often appear together, but results of round-table talks indicate Oregonians doubt there will be enough water for everyone as the state's population grows and summers become drier with climate change. The five sessions were held in September and October. Two-thirds of those surveyed at the roundtables across the state doubt whether Oregon will have enough water to cover all its needs 20 years from now. Oregon and Alaska are the only two Western states with no water-supply plan outlining how to meet future water demands. The results of the roundtables dovetail with a forecast by the Oregon Water Resources Department showing water needs growing by 10 percent by 2050, even as supplies may shrink in a warmer climate. there buster Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Just a small point from a native Texan. There is no "southern Texas." There is only "south Texas." Quote “the slovenliness of our language makes it easier to have foolish thoughts.” George Orwell
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 31, 2008 Author Members Posted December 31, 2008 So there is north Texas, south Texas, east Texas, central Texas, and west Texas? WOW! Still a few though? Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 1, 2009 Author Members Posted January 1, 2009  we say northern, western, southern, or eastern Oregon... I honestly don't think we're going to have a shortfall of water here in Oregon, in any direction! Woody Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Oregon sells much of it's water to California or used to when I lived there. I guess they could stop doing that and keep it for themselves.
