skyblue888 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Subject: chat on the merits of Jesus Date: Dec.30, 2008 Here is a conversation I had with someone from the Filippines on Dec.30. As the conversation progresses you will see that the more it gets interesting and captivating! Hope you enjoy! God bless! sky (laval) ---------------------------------------------------- Laval: Looking unto Jesus and trusting in His MERITS we receive the blessings of pardon and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Because God accepts us only through the merits of Jesus... Cheyserr: ok Laval: the Holy Spirit is given to change us into the likeness of Jesus only if we believe that the merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to plead before God in our behalf... this is the true religion, the only religion of the Bible... Laval: very simple isn't it? Cheyserr: yes Laval: I tell u Cheyserr, this is not being preached in the churches as it should be Laval: and yet it is the subject that should swallow up every other Cheyserr: ok Laval: do u really believe this with all your heart? Cheyserr: i just heard that today Cheyserr: what do you mean if I believe? Laval: do u really believe that when we come to God, all we need to do is to accept the merits of Jesus and plead them in our behalf and that it is the only way we can be saved? Laval: because we can never have any merits of our own before God Cheyserr: ok Cheyserr: but honestly I really don't understand it... Cheyserr: maybe because i don't have a background on it Laval: okay Cheyserr: anyway what do u mean by the merits of Jesus? Laval: okay lets say you've done something good lately and someone says to you, you DESERVE something for that... the word "deserve" has everything to do with merits... you merited something because u did something good... Laval: that is why many are doing many good deeds to earn merits in order to be accepted of God... Cheyserr: wait Cheyserr: so it is a reward? Laval: lets say i come to you and i give you 10,000 pesos and u say to me, Why do u give me that? and i say, because you deserved it, you merited it, because you did something good... Cheyserr: it is a reward Laval: the 10,000 pesos is the reward, yes, but that is not what the merits are... Cheyserr: okay Laval: the truth is that we can NEVER do anything good enough to deserve to be saved...why? because we are saved only through the merits of what Jesus did for us Laval: His sacrifice is so full of divine merits that we cannot add any of our own merits to that sacrifice ... His merits are ALL-SUFFICIENT to plead before God in our behalf that we may receive God's richest blessings.. Laval: do u get that? Laval: God will reward us for the good works that His grace will have enabled us to do but these works, in and of themselves, have no merits before God for our salvation Laval: Do you see that Cheyserr? tell me if u see that... Laval: if our good works had any merits to earn our salvation then Jesus would not have needed to come to live and die for us! Laval: what are u reading? Cheyserr: dictionary Laval: okay Laval: what word are u looking up? Cheyserr: merit Laval: what does it say? Cheyserr: it says reward merited Cheyserr: you deserve it Laval: we get a reward because we merited it Laval: merit: something that entitles a person to a reward or commendation... Cheyserr: okay Laval: did u know that Jesus got a reward and what is that reward? Laval: He got a reward for his great sacrifice Cheyserr: what? Laval: you and me.... hehe Laval: His sacrifice is so full of divine merits that God said to Jesus, I will accept everyone that comes to Me trusting wholly in Your merits and in Your merits alone for his/her salvation Laval: get that? Laval: Cheyserr, do you see how the Gospel is simple? Laval: think about it Laval: the Gospel is just as simple as accepting the alphabet Laval: we are Christ's reward Laval: His greatest joy is that through His merits, the merits of His sacrifice, He earned the right to save us... Cheyserr: okay Laval: through His divine merits, Jesus earned the right to save us from every evil work and to preserve us for His heavenly kingdom Laval: through His merits alone Cheyserr: I really don't understand the merit Laval: okay Laval: please listen carefully Laval: u heard of mother Teresa, right? Laval: a catholic "saint" Cheyserr: i heard but i don't know her life Laval: she spent her life helping the poor Laval: that is what she did for many years Laval: now do u think that because she lived like this that God will say to her, "Okay my dearTeresa, you can enter the gates of Heaven because you deserved it."??? Cheyserr: maybe Laval: ah ha! okay now we are going somewhere... hehe Laval: okay now Cheyserr listen very carefully again, okay? Laval: mother Teresa wrote a book and in that book she said that she did everything so she could deserve to go to Heaven like all the catholic saints before her did... Cheyserr: okay Laval: but in her book she also admitted that all her life she was plagued with doubts about her salvation... Laval: now cheyserr, listen very carefully again Laval: in the day of judgment, if mother Teresa was to approach the throne of God thinking or pleading that she deserves to enter the gates of Heaven for all the good deeds that she did to the poor, do u know what the Lord will say to her? Cheyserr: what? Laval: The Lord will say to her: "I don't know you, depart from me, you worker of iniquity." Luke 13:27. Laval: Now do u know what mother Teresa should say to God in the day of Judgment, and that is what God wants to hear from her if she is going to be accepted in His kingdom? Cheyserr: what? Laval: Lord, I have no goodness of my own or MERIT by which I may claim salvation. If I am going to enter through the gates of Heaven it will be only through the all-sufficient merits of Jesus... I have done nothing at all, He did it all! It was His grace that enabled me to do the good works. I deserve nothing except what Jesus Himself deserved for me through the merits of His great sacrifice... Laval: do u want to know what the Lord will say to her if she says those words to God from the heart? Cheyserr: ok Laval: if she really means it Laval: and the Lord will know if she really means it Laval: He will say to her, "For you the gates are wide open. Blessed are you of My Father." Laval: but i doubt that is what mother Teresa will say, do u know why? Cheyserr: you mean the merits that Jesus has are from GOD? Laval: yes Cheyserr! of course! Laval: the divine merits of Jesus Laval: Jesus is pleading His divine merits in your behalf and in my behalf before the Father... Laval: that is why we need to rest in His merits and in His merits alone for our acceptance with God... Laval: do u know why i doubt mother Teresa will not plead the merits of Jesus Christ in the day of judgment? Cheyserr: why? Laval: because she was taught from a very young age that the only way for God to accept her was by her doing good works and that those good works would have merits to gain Heaven... Cheyserr: ha okay Laval: but this doctrine is an abomination to God... do you know of what those who teach this doctrine will be accused of before God's tribunal? Cheyser: no, what? Laval: they will be accused of HIGH TREASON! Laval: because if we think that we can be accepted into the Kingdom of God in any other way except through the merits of Jesus Christ, we will be accused of TREASON before God. Chsyserr: ok Laval: if we teach that we can be saved in any other way except through the all-sufficient merits of Jesus, we will be accused of TREASON Laval: and that explains why God will say to us, in that day, "I do not know you; depart from Me, you workers of iniquity!" Matt.7:23. Laval: that is what He will say to us even if we have helped the poor and gave all our possessions! Cheyserr: ok Laval: interesting, isn't it cheyserr? Cheyserr: hehe yes Laval: and yet the majority of all who attend church think they can be saved through their good works, that their good works have merits to earn their salvation... Laval: right? Cheyserr: yes Laval: all the false religions of the world teach that we can appease God through the merits of our good works Cheyserr: ok Laval: but that is so wrong; in fact it is an abomination to God Laval: it is as if to say that the infinite sacrifice of Jesus Christ was not sufficient... that His sacrifice does not have enough merits to earn us our salvation Laval: can we add creature merits to the merits of His great sacrifice? Laval: get it cheyserr? Laval: please tell me that u do Laval: and that u will never forget it! hehe Laval: i hope u can save this conversation Laval: and read it again and again Cheyserr: i will save it and put it in my usb Laval: yes please do that... thanks! Laval: and read it often because this is the essence of true religion Laval: in fact, it is the only religion of the bible Laval: this is the only way we can please God Cheyserr: ok Laval: and be accepted of Him Laval: there is no other way Laval: it makes sense, doesn't it Cheyserr? Laval: i searched for this truth for 25 years or more Laval: and i am telling you, not many people understand this Cheyserr: thanks for sharing this to me Laval: not one in one hundred appreciates this Laval: I am so happy that I was able to share this with you! Cheyserr: thanks Laval: Cheyserr, for a long time i was a church member, a church goer, but i did not learn this in church... Laval: because sadly the ministers and the theologians are the last ones to teach this... Laval: it is as though they had no idea, no clue at all... Laval: they don't seem to know about the merits of Jesus any more than the Jews recognized the Messiah when He was walking among them... Laval: so sad Laval: that is why Jesus said, "Many are called but few are chosen." Matt.20:16. Laval: anyway, i am so glad we were able to have this time together Cheyserr: yes! Laval: so now i think you will have a better idea of what i mean when i talk about the merits of Jesus, right? Cheyserr: yes Laval: so Jesus is the only One who has any merits for our salvation Laval: we have none of our own Laval: we have only demerits Laval: and that is why we must rely solely upon the merits of Jesus for our acceptance with God... Laval: as we do that we have the approval of God! Laval: right Cheyserr? Cheyserr: ok Laval: when we rely upon the merits of Jesus alone to be accepted of God and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, God hears us Cheyserr: okay Laval: this is a most precious truth Laval: but not many will accept this truth Cheyserr... Laval: do u know why? Cheyserr: no Cheyserr: why? Laval: because they want to be able to say, "We did this and we did that." "Did we not do miracles in Your name." "We have a right to enter through the gates." Laval: but Jesus will say to them, "I know you not." Cheyserr: ha okay Laval: when the true people of God will be asked, What gives you the right to enter through the gates of Heaven, what will they say? Laval: can u answer that question now Cheyserr? Laval: hehe Laval: go ahead Cheyserr, tell me... please Laval: what will the righteous say when they are asked that question? Laval: What gives you the right to enter through the everlasting gates? Cheyserr: they will say that to be able to enter in through the gates of Heaven is to have the merits which come from our Jesus... Laval: Amen! Amen! Amen! Cheyserr: is that right? Laval: Blessed are you Cheyserr! Laval: You are greatly blessed! Laval: your answer gave me shivers Laval: your answer was perfect Laval: praise the Lord for that Laval: this is a great joy to me cheyserr and to God and to the angels; to the whole watching universe! Cheyserr: hehehehe Cheyserr: I am glad i gave the right answer..hehehe Laval: me too hehe Cheyserr: but thanks to you for teaching me Laval: I am soooo glad Laval: you are a good student hehe Cheyserr: ok Laval: it is the Holy Spirit who taught u that for sure; He opened your understanding; i could not have done that myself Laval: hehe Cheyserr: yes Laval: so i thanked the Lord for that Cheyserr: because of Jesus' merits Laval: exactly Laval: wow, yes exactly! Laval: even the air we breathe we receive through the merits of Jesus Laval: even the food we eat Laval: we get through His merits Cheyserr: especially our life Laval: and the clothes we wear Laval: and our physical life comes from the food we eat and the air we breathe and the sunshine Laval: it is the life of God for our physical nature Laval: it is the life of His word Cheyserr: ok Laval: so everything we have from God is through the merits of His shed blood Cheyserr: okay Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
