Moderators Denise Posted January 7, 2009 Moderators Posted January 7, 2009 Has anyone ever heard of Aron Ralston? Well, this was the high light of our family's day when my son read his devotional today in his teen book. It had a little info on this person who went hiking one day, and didn't tell anyone where he was going....he got in trouble where he got his hand stuck....a rock fell on it...you can google it and read the story, and he also has a book...he was out there 5 days, and ran out of food and water....this is where no one would find him...he finally had to make the decison to amputate his arm....I thought this was an amazing, brave story of a person who wanted to live so badly that he had the courage to do this....this is him on youtube of where it happened and how....you will be amazed! My son and I wanted to find out more information about it, so we thought you tube would show his story, and it did. I had tears when I was listening to his story! How many of us would do that if we were in that situation? I don't know if I could.... Woody Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I watched his story when he was interviewed by Brokaw. I also have and have read his book. Unfortunately ... he didn't give glory to God. What a wasted opportunity. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Denise Posted January 7, 2009 Author Moderators Posted January 7, 2009 That's to bad....I didn't know that....hopefully in his future, he will give glory to God. Quote Be Kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another... Monticello Georgia
cricket Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Honestly, after 5 days of being stuck in a cave, "torquing" my body in such a way as to snap the bones in my arm, carving away at my flesh with a 1 inch blade, then ripping my nerves with a pair of pliers... ...probably wouldn't give me much cause to praise God either. In fact, I'd be tempted to turn from Him and ask, "Why, God?!! Why? WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I NEEDED YOU MOST? At the beach? Making footprints in the sand?" Quote

I had read this story in the news when it happened, so I knew how it ended and couldn't bear to watch this video. I couldn't believe anybody would be ABLE to cut all the bones, ligaments and muscles in his own arm. But now you say he torqued his body first, in order to snap the bones first.... Oh dear. I can't imagine what courage it must have taken. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
cricket Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I'm sorry I got graphic there. Please forgive me for that. Quote
