Marge Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 My boss is shi'a muslim. He is always looking for parallels between us "7 Days Christians" and his beliefs of the Koran. Today he excitedly told me that REV chpt 4-10 "the part where the prophet John writes prophecy" is a predicition of ASHURA Hussain was killed on the battlefield as he did Sajdah. His head was removed from his body on the plains of Kerbala, mounted on a spear, and paraded through villages and towns as it was taken to Damascus and presented at the feet of Yazid. MY QUESTION: IS there a correlation between Rev 4--10 and this observance? Read more about ASHURA at: http://www.ashura.com/ Please help me...HE IS AWAITING MY RESEARCH..... Quote
Moderators Nan Posted January 8, 2009 Moderators Posted January 8, 2009 Hi Marje. I am giving your post to my husband, who is a retired SDA minister. He is of Indonesian background and has worked a lot with Muslims. I will pass his comments on. Quote
Moderators John317 Posted January 8, 2009 Moderators Posted January 8, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_Ashura According to the book Great Controversy,pp. 334, 335, Rev. 9 deals with Islam and specifically with the Muslims of the Ottoman Empire. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Moderators Nan Posted January 8, 2009 Moderators Posted January 8, 2009 Marge, I have sent you a private message, could you check it please. Thanks Nan Quote
Members phkrause Posted January 8, 2009 Members Posted January 8, 2009 I don't have a direct answer for you but Steve Wohlberg is doing a series on Islam. He has a 13 part series on DVD. Go to his web site www.whitehorsemedia.com But I think John317 has hit on what Steve was mentioning on his program. Also there is a good friend who's married to my wife's cousin. John McGhee. He has work with and was born in Pakistan. He father was a missionary. He used to do seminars for working with muslims. If you need his email let me know. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
