Obama Elected President Today

My last hope is gone. The votes were counted today and Obama won. Congrats. I was just hoping that Palin's charm would sway a few votes ... but it looked like that they kept to their votes today unfortunately.

It was interesting that Chaney presided over the count. I am sure it pained him to have to read the results.

Just wait ... in two years we will be back on track to start a good campaign.

Perhaps, but it has to be someone who has not had ties with Bush for him to win. Regardless of what we think of Bush, more than 1/2 of the general population doesn't want him or anyone like him back.

This is true but not all for the same reason.

A lot of Democrats don't like Bush just because he is a Republican. They would never like any Republican in office.

A lot of people don't like Bush because the Iraq War drug out so long. Some of those are anti-war people that always opposed the war but some did support the war but find its length unacceptable.

Many conservatives don't like Bush because he was a big spender that made government larger.

Many other conservatives don't like Bush because he did little to stop illegal immigration.

Many don't like Bush just because they don't like government and it doesn't matter who the President is, they won't like them. Comparing Bush's approval rating to Congress' approval rating one might be surprised the Bush has had a higher approval rating than Congress for quite some time. That reveals a general dislike for government in society as a whole.

Some don't like him because he eroded freedoms such as habeas corpus and freedom from illegal wiretaps.

Some don't like him because he got America into the business of torture.

Good post Shane. I thought Bush was the right President at the right time. I think he did what he thought most of the people in the USA wanted done at that moment. I was not for the invasion of Iraq, but when we went in at that moment I supported our troops by praying for each one on both sides and praying that this would end as quickly as possible. Its like President elect Obama says there is only one President at a time. Because he doesn't want the terrorists to see us divided. All the terrorist countries want to see is a nation divided. Just like our children they like to see us divided. I'm not saying that we have to be for anything that President Bush is for but at least do our crying in private. The only reason the Democrats were against the war was because they notice that people were starting to getting impatient. Now that doesn't mean the all were in favor to being with. Because if we all remember Vietnam who was infavor of that war and who was against, and who got us out of there. The exact reverse I would say.
