Ok....I recently was on facebook, and my first serious girlfriend has contacted me..."found me"...

And in case you guys are wondering, she is still married to her husband...So, there is no romantic reincounter...So, let's not go there.....

But it did get me to thinking......

do you remember your first boy/girl friend's name??? Are you still in contact with that person? Does your current spouse know about the other?

Just a curious questions...I promise not to tell.....

And Redwood, Palin doesn't count as a "girlfriend".....

Yeah, I remember, though I think it was Grade 3 so I'm not sure how real it counts as... I guess she's still out there somewhere.

Don't feel bad Liz, I rarely go to FB. I just read a medical journal article about the hazards of being on FB,

Quote:
Increasing numbers of doctors and medical students are turning to websites such as Facebook to make friends, chat, and organise social events. These innovations have made some aspects of life easier and are a powerful tool for communication, but they also blur the line between our personal and professional personas. With the veneer of friendship that's offered on these sites, it's all too easy to reveal more information than is appropriate. If this information falls into the wrong hands, problems can arise about your integrity, employment, and fitness to practise medicine.

Wasn't that a Facebook person who committed suicide after being taunted by a "boyfriend" who turned out to be the mother of one of her schoolmates?

I think it sounds a little too "friendly" for my tastes.

Though I'd love to see pictures of all the C/A people.

About old boyfriends -- I know my first "crush" from 5th grade; he lives near me [in the next town], and his ex-wife is a close friend of mine. Our kids grew up together and I used to see him [casually] frequently when the kids were all still in school. Funny, however, there was no romance there, just a pleasant feeling of having shared old times.

[After all, what excitement could there be, from the remains of a childhood crush? -- Now, on the other hand, seeing my ex-husband occasionally has a whole lot more "baggage" to it. There are the memories of some very wonderful times -- and a few very very sad memories. But still -- it's all in the past, now. Sorta like a bad dream.]

I think the case to which you are referring, Jeannie, was on MySpace rather than Facebook - but the principles are the same.

I find it an easy way to maintain some social interaction and keep up with old friends, but I am careful

about what I put on there and it certainly is not my 'home page' or the focus of my life, internet or

otherwise.

And my ex, in spite of multiple medical and other degrees including a doctorate, is not computer literate in a social

sense so I feel fairly safe in NOT meeting him there LOL.

How about if you asked instead, as your second question, are you still in contact with any of your girl/boyfriends from back in your school days? Well, doesn't matter. The answer is still no.

Trying to figure out how to find CA people on CA. Just joined Haystack group. Looks promising :).

I remember my first girlfriend and she is not on facebook. I am if anyone wants to look me up (Shane Linder). I joined facebook when half of my local church sent me emails inviting me. I like it because I can glance at it for a minute or two and be done. This site (Adventist Forum) is much more time consuming and I do not belong to other sites like this one.

I didn't get emotionally connected to many of my girlfriends because I was afraid of being hurt. I only emotionally connected with two prior to my wife. My break-ups with them were pleasant and we have never lost touch with each other over the years. One of them attended my wedding and I attended hers.

Yep, I befriended Shane on Facebook recently. One of the cool things is how it allows my various circles - friends, people from here, people from the William Gibson Board (my other main forum), people from our current and former church, former students, colleagues, family and so on - to all kind of intersect.

I did 'friend' a girl I had quite a crush on in high school a while ago... but I ain't telling who, and we never dated.

I was kind of a load mouth when I was in school. (That may be hard to believe). I was the student in class that always asked questions or responded whenever the teacher asked the class a question. As a result most everyone in my class knew who I was. I get friend requests now from people I went to high school with that I have no idea who they are. I dig out my old year book and can verify they were in my class but I have no memory of them at all. One guy even sent me a PM going on and on about how glad he was to find me and what fond memories he has of our years in school and I have no idea who he is.
