I am listening to the Hope Channel at the moment. A well known preacher is on and he is suggesting that all of us join in a Boycott of Bucks. Apparently there are some new currency in the US that does not say 'In God We Trust'.

This preacher is promoting a Boycott of all the money that does not say 'In God We Trust'. If you go to the bank and receive this currency ... you should reject it and demand bucks that say 'In God We Trust'.

How many of you agree and want to join the Boycott? If not ... Why?

May we be one so that the world may be won.

I don't think I would join the boycott. For one, I't wouldn't do any good, and 2, I'm not sure that this country, and when I say this country I mean the government, trust's in God. And 3rdly, I'm not sure that it falls in that catagory, but I believe in separation of church and country or state.

Dear individuals,

Mrs. Gray is interested in participating in the boycott of bucks in a supporting role. If you do receive some "bucks" it will be difficult to know how to dispose of this sinful lucre. If you happen across some, please therefore mail it to Mrs. Gray who will dispose of it properly.

Further, if you happen across any currency that simply says "In God we Trust" but is vague about which god it is, it could be Vishnu, Baal, or Nebuchadnezzar. Similarly package it tightly and mail it to Mrs. Gray for prompt disposal. Please also include proper insurance to be sure that the vile bucks will arrive safely and will not be diverted to other locations where they may proselytize the innocent into lives of servitude to idols.

Also, why should a person who does not believe in any god have to hand out a paper that says that they trust in a god? This turns every single bit of American currency into a truth-filled faith tract.

The other day Mrs. Gray was at the farmers' market and somebody handed her a large paper that looked like currency, but it turns out it was only a religious message on the back that said something about trusting God. Mrs. Gray felt bad but ended up throwing it away because she already trusts in God and did not endorse the particular brand of religion advertised there. Had this person simply handed her a $10, $20, or $100 bill that said "In God We Trust" then that non-denominational, non-committed tract would have found a life as a paper missionary and would still be in circulation.

Instead of handing out flyers, Seventh-day Adventists should hand out truth-filled currency.

No need to thank Mrs. Gray. She is glad to help.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Gray

Great Post Mrs. Gray

We haven't met but while I like your post ... I don't care for your color. Red is far superior. But I will seek to forgive you.

Regarding:

Quote:
"Had this person simply handed her a $10, $20, or $100 bill that said "In God We Trust" then that non-denominational, non-committed tract would have found a life as a paper missionary and would still be in circulation."

I do feel you have a great idea here. If we were to go around passing these nondenominational money tracts around it would share the message of God while helping the needy. With this method the Joy of God would be spread. But this would only make the liberals happy. The cons would be concerned that the Three Angels Message was not written on the currency and that the denomination of the currency was present but the name of the church denomination was not. You just can please 'em all.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

I like Mrs. Gray's post too. Evidently she already knows that if anyone finds a coin that is really missing the "In God We Trust" it is worth a lot of money.

The new dollar coins have the motto imprinted on the edge of the coin. The only thing missing is the word "Liberty" which is still understood by having a picture of the Statute of Liberty on one side.

Sorry, I cannot join the boycott. In fact, I'll take all of those bad old coins anyone wants to give me.

Isn't it embarrassing when someone claiming to be trying to keep God in American money gets all upset about a supposed missing "In God We Trust" that was there all the time?

To this day I have not seen any of the new dollar coins in circulation. Never once have I been offered the coins in change at any store. I had to actually ask for a few at the credit union just to have with my other funky money. IE Susan B's and Sacajeweias.

I have held and used dozens of these coins. I give them as graduation presents to my students. They are pretty and make quite a splash when you give them as tips, especially because there is always the suspicion that those shiny gold coins are fake. Learned however, that people in other countries want paper money only; guess the money exchangers will only take currency.

Every single one of the coins had In God We Trust impressed on the rim of the coin.

I can not believe another of my uncles has fallen victim to a hoax. This is another one that can easily be found on snopes. The money has the words printed on the rim instead of on the face. But it is still there.

Now what to do with my uncles?????

I can't believe a preacher would say such a thing on Hope Channel! Are you serious, Redwood? Was that really on Hope Channel?

Even if the coin story were true, having a pastor call for a boycott on TV just doesn't seem to be in keeping with the mission and purpose of the Hope Channel.

---

Personally, I am not interested in using $1 coins, no matter what they say or don't say on them. I prefer to travel as light as possible, and coins add a lot of undesirable weight to my purse.

Yes Gramma ... I am serious. It may be difficult to know when I am serious because I do like to joke around also. But this is serious. On sabbath the preacher was actively promoting the boycott on the Faith Channel. I was quite surprised as you are. Now ... I should indicate that I like this particular preacher. I agree with him most of the time ... so I was surprised to hear this. He actually thought it was good for SDAs to make this statement.

Liz ... please. I have not fallen to any hoax. Perhaps the preacher did. I was just passin' on what he had said in his sermon. Now if it came from an Adventist preacher on Sabbath ... during his sermon ... SURELY ... it HAS to be true. I know that I believe in what my Pastor says.

Redwood, I didn't know that you are a joker. I was just shocked than any Adventist pastor, especially on TV, would say a thing like that. Even if it were true, it isn't appropriate.
