Ellen Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 l doubt if a soul reading these posts would find this book readable. I really was impressed by the writing ability of the author. It isn't clear whether the writer is SDA or member of any church but I think he must be (have been). The book is "The Biblical Meaning of History? by Siegfried J. Schwantes, 1970. Every sentence in the book is so concise an average writer would need a paragraph to say as much. He doesn't dwell on any moment in history, but drops important names (lots I never heard of) in appropriate places and moves through time with dispatch. In summing up the meaning from the Bible he tersely presents the gospel. Yes, I read every word. It turned up in our church as a possible library book. Very lightly markings were made throughout the text. When I got to the last line was penciled "factual but dry 1981" It was NOT dry, it was taxing reading. Quote
