fccool Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I very recently got into Hydroponics and Areroponics... and it's really cool! I absolutely love it. I did not really intend to grow anything but wheatgrass, but I came across this book by accident... http://www.howtohydroponics.com/ And it really opened my eyes to some pretty cool stuff. I like new technology, and this one rocks. I must admit that I had no idea. Nevertheless, I am more into aeroponics now... and I am interested in the technical side of it. I've built a couple of rigs, and will be building more for the indoors stuff for now. But, I think it's a good way to get kids into gardening all year around. And it's fairly cheap, and pays off in the end. I've built a DIY aeroponic system for $50. Are any of you guys into this stuff? I'd like to see a subforum for this (or gardening). Perhaps there is one already. Quote
Dottie Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Disney World has a garden from which they get a lot of the fresh vegetables used in their restaurants. One can take a tour of the garden where they have a aeroponic system fro growing lettuce. The plants are on a rotating thing that goes around and around, getting the roots wet in fertilized water then taking them out, over and over. It's fascinating to see. Quote
nuff sed Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I picked up an old booklet on hydroponics which shows how to grow using 3inch plastic pipe three high and pumping the solution through the system with a pump and timer...Should be inexpensive to make. If anyone is interested PM me. Quote
