Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 28, 2009 Members Posted January 28, 2009 what is the movie about? Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

If it were merely that, then marriage would be a works dominated institution. I think that God made it to be more than that. I believe that marriage is a symbol of our relationship with God. What I think also (and this is only my opinion) is that there needs to be a spiritual connection between the two parties. I am thinking more, as time goes on, that a man has as much of a need for this emotional/spiritual intimacy as does a woman. If a woman has her intimacy needs filled, then she will not be enticed to find it elsewhere. That is why his checklist didn't win her over. It was only when he humbled himself and became approachable that she began to pay attention. If that were me I would have had the exact same reaction. It's not as easy as "If I do this and this and this then everything will be better." Marriage doesn't work like that. Believing that a marriage is a covenant, loving someone who constantly rejects you, the commitment, is one BIG important step. But I don't think it's the entire picture. I know that from close to home, knowing someone who was dumped twice and he thought that all had been going quite well. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted January 28, 2009 Administrators Posted January 28, 2009 The basic point of the film is: It's a story about a fireman who spends his life rescuing people in trouble. But his own family is in trouble- can he rescue it? I did enjoy the film, although it raised the thoughts above. I cried through it, too. There are action scenes which should impress men and the kids. Good for the whole family! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
True-believer Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Fire Proof, Yeah should be an awesome movie!!! Because it stars Kirk Cameron from the movie Left Behind 1,2,3. Has anyone seen the Left Behind movies or read the books? They are all about The End Times!!! It's supposed to be Fact--the Left Behind movies--right from the Bible. But, you watch the movies for yourself??? It is really great acting. It is about The Rapture of the Church, and everyone else is Left Behind for the seven years Tribulation--led by the AntiChrist with a 7yr peace treaty--Daniel 7,8,9. And through the 7yrs Tribulation things will get very bad, and anyone who accepts the mark of the beast on their hand or forehead--a barcode--in their skin--so you can't buy or sell anything--will not loose their head, but if you refuse--then OFF with ya head!!! At the end of the 7yrs, is The Second Coming Of Jesus Christ with the Church--to rule and reign with together for one thousand years on Earth in immortal bodies. Yes, I can see some good key points in it... But, the 70weeks of Prophecy in Daniel is already fulfilled in Jesus Christ on the Cross--being the last week--7yrs. I can see both views!!! Its very important to be open-minded, especially about The End Times!!! Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Moderators Denise Posted January 30, 2009 Moderators Posted January 30, 2009 We seen this movie, and it's my favorite now! I cried, laughed, and there even was parts where I sat at the edge of my seat. It was really good. If anyone is interested in downloading and watching it, you can download their tool from graboid and watch it: click here It is free and have so much bandwidth for this free trial. There's plenty enough of bandwidth to download the movie. And, it's very good quality....dvd quality. After we downloaded it, we hooked it up to our tv and watched it from there, and it looked like a regular dvd movie. When you hit the download button, it takes a bit to download before you watch it. You have to click on the download tab to see it downloading. That I didn't know, and I was downloading like 6 Fireproofs! lol Quote Be Kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another... Monticello Georgia
Tallmark Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I saw the movie when it first came out. I really liked, especially since most stuff that comes out is garbage. Most of the time the acting was good. There were a couple of scenes when the female was off. Kirk hit his mark throughout the movie. It made decent money considering that it was only shown in a few theaters and most of the cast and crew were volunteers. Nice job guys! Quote
GreatLakesGramma Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I have been waiting for Fireproof to come out on DVD. My husband and I have seen the 2 previous movies made by Sherwood. I bought Flywheel from CBD, because it sounded like it might be good, and it was cheap. When we watched it, it instantly became our all-time favorite movie. So we bought Fighting the Giants as soon as it came out, & it instantly became our all-time favorite movie, with Flywheel in second place. I ordered Fireproof from CBD the day before it was supposed to be released, and it seems they must have gotten their shipment a little early, because it was shipped later the same day, even though I did get an email after ordering, telling me it would be released the next day. It just came today. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. LifeHiscost Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Yeah, I know i'm reading more into the movie than intended, sorry about that. Many receive their information of the gospel of Christ based on the movies. Many others get their information about the gospel of Christ from other people, ministers included among the source, which is probably somewhat better than the movies. OTOH I cannot believe when Jesus reveals Himself at His coming, asking, "Why didn't you believe so and so when he said such and such?" Not that a person might not be telling the truth. But I'm satisfied to believe the Gospel was given in simple enough terms that the Holy Spirit is the most capable Person to grant the revelation we each as individuals need. "Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help."Psalm 146:3 NKJV "...guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long." Psalm 25:5 NIV "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near." Rev 1:1-3 NKJV Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
GoLions Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I'm not big into movies. My wife and girls rented this movie, and said I should watch it with them. I had no idea what it was about. My opinion, it was a total 'chick flick'. At the end of the movie I said it should have been named "fireStarter" because I knew I was in trouble. The next morning after breakfast, I picked up my wifes dishes, as I leave the room, I say "day one". Quote

missionlady Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 A local Adventist church here is showing Fireproof tonight. My husband and I are planning on going. If it's anywhere near as good as Flywheel and Facing the Giants, it should be good. They had a good message and were well done. Quote
GreatLakesGramma Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 It is just as good as Sherwood's previous movies. I recommend buying the DVD, especially the Collector's Edition. All of the bonus features are very good too. "Fireproof In 60 Seconds" is very funny. These guys have a lot of fun making these movies. Since they're not making their living by making movies, they are maybe more free to have fun doing them. And they all seem to have very active funny bones. Kirk Cameron said he had the most pranks played on him of any movie he ever made. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26.
