Carson, right, a neurosurgeon and member of Spencerville Adventist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, in a film version of his autobiography. The story will air on the TNT cable network February 7. Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr will portray Dr. Benjamin S. Carson in a TNT Original television movie, "Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story," the cable network said. The movie will air on TNT February 7. Kimberly Elise, two-time NAACP Image Award winner, portrays Sonya Carson, Ben's mother, and Aunjanue Ellis appears as Carson's wife, Cindy. "Gifted Hands is more than just an inspirational tale of overcoming seemingly impossible odds to succeed," TNT senior vice president Michael Wright said in a statement. "It's that rare story of finding something deeper and more meaningful in life, while facing the challenges of the world with faith, hope and courage." The movie is based on Carson's memoir, and will trace his journey from frustrated inner-city kid to director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Children's Center. Carson received the Medal of Freedom from former President George W. Bush in June 2008 for his work with neurological disorders and contributions to medicine. I'm not sure if there kids went to the same school or they were having a musical conference. Below is their summary of the movie and the actors involved: "A frustrated young boy with problems in school overcomes the obstacles in his life to become a world-renowned neurosurgeon in the new TNT Original movie GIFTED HANDS: THE BEN CARSON STORY. This uplifting and inspirational JOHNSON & JOHNSON SPOTLIGHT PRESENTATION® stars Oscar® winner Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire) and two-time NAACP Image Award winner Kimberly Elise (The Great Debaters, The Manchurian Candidate). It is based on the true story of Dr. Benjamin S.
