True-believer Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I need help... In Exodus 35 it states that we can not kindle no fire... or we will be put to death... Does the rule still apply.. Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Members phkrause Posted February 1, 2009 Members Posted February 1, 2009 I just reread this passage to see what it had to say. At first when I read your question I was going to say no because I thought that it was related to the temple sacrifice's. But obviously its not. The only thing that I can think of Luke is when the Hebrews first got out of Egypt God told them not to go out and pick up the manna on the Sabbath. I think when we look at this in our time, today, I don't think we would see this as working on the Sabbath. But at that time they had just been brought out of slavery and God was trying to show them the importance of the Sabbath. I'm not sure that this answers your question, but not being a theologian I look at it very simply. There are probably more theological answers, but this is my simplistic one. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. nuff sed Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 When my 97 year old mother was a little girl back in Brooklyn it was her job on Sabbath morning to go across the street and light the stoves for the Jewish family that lived there. Quote
Neil D Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If one is dead to thier trespasses and sins, what does it matter? Do you have a wood stove to keep you warm? Are you one of those who doesn't get thier wood ready before it is needed? IOWs, do you cut the tree, saw it up and bring it into the house when you need it? Why don't you cut the tree down, split it if needed, stack the wood, and as friday night comes, why don't you bring in a Sabbath days amount of wood, if you plan to use it? Just a thought....
