Laid-Off & Debt Free

A listener wrote into the Dave Rasmey program today and told him that he had just been laid off by IBM. He went on to tell him that he had followed Dave Ramey's plan, was debt free and had six month's of living expenses in the bank. He said the supervisor was very upset and nervous when giving him the news and he (the listener) kept asking himself what size his severance package was going to be and was amazed when he was told it was $70,000. He commented in his email, that old Murphy (of Murphy's law) was knocking at the door but he (the listener) wasn't going to open it.

Dave Ramsey often says that if we follow his plan that Murphy will lose our address. Imagine if everyone getting laid off was debt free (except for their house) and had six months of living expenses in the bank. That certainly would make our economic outlook a lot different.
