Moderators Bravus Posted February 4, 2009 Moderators Posted February 4, 2009 I suspect I'm pretty atypical here, but hopefully others will reply too and balance things out. 1) Do you fear (afraid) of God? Not really - He is Love, by definition, and I am not afraid of those who love me. He is also infinitely powerful, though. I have a healthy respect for the very non-infinite power in an electric cable, and a fear that if I'm careless I could get hurt... so even with Love, respect for infinite power is part of the picture. 2) Do you fear (stand in awe) of God? Absolutely - He's greater than the universe and contains the universe. If you take the terms 'omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and eternal' seriously, and have some grasp of what they mean, you can't but stand in awe of the being they describe. 3) Do you abide by God’s law of love? As much as I'm able, in his strength, and more every day. I recognise the harm caused by selfishness, the opposite of love, and want no part of it. 4) Have you got a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? This is a harder one. I find it easier to relate to God than to Jesus, not because of who Jesus is but because of how his teachings have been overlaid with so much guilt and dogma and human insecurity. I see myself much more as someone who is coming to understand who God is, and who lives out his law of love. Perhaps I'm taking it in reverse - Jesus said "If you have seen me you have seen the Father", but I'm struggled to see Jesus and find it easier to see the Father. 5) Do you follow the whole Bible—both old and new testaments? Yes. As I understand it. Many here understand it differently than I do, and would claim that I don't. I don't have to answer to them (or, with respect, to you), but only to God. 6) Do you do things by the flesh or the spirit? Increasingly the latter, but I can also identify very strongly with Paul's lament that the thing he wanted to do he didn't and the thing he didn't want to do he did. It's a process of letting go and letting God. 7) In the Millennium, will you be reigning with Jesus on earth or in heaven for the 1000yrs? Honestly, I don't think it's worth getting exercised about. The key words in that whole sentence are 'with Jesus' - the geography fades into insigificance. 8) How long have you been a Christian—a follow of Jesus Christ? Since birth, so coming up for 45 years. 9) Are you committed to spreading the Good News of the Gospel to the entire world starting with your home-town? Honestly, no. I am committed to attempting to live out love every day in everything I do, and to talk about my faith to those who ask. It is the Spirit's job to convict, and as much as anything my job is not to get in the way by displaying arrogance and ignorance and selfishness. 10) Are you willing to live your life by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God—The Holy Bible? Yes. But again, as I understand it, based on my own study of it. Others will claim that I am not doing so. I'd also add that there are other words that proceed from the mouth of God than just the Bible, including the Living Word - Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the love we see in others and the book of His creation all around us. I think our obsession with the written word (probably because it's easier to pin down and box up) blinds us to large parts of God's message for us And the last question is: Have you ever been to my website? www.myspace.com/lukegoss82 -------- you’ll love it!!! I have, but I didn't love it... don't get me wrong, it was great to learn more about you and put a face to the name and get a sense of what you're up to. I didn't hate it either, but music that starts automatically when you get to a page is a big no-no in web design (unless you're a band), and that particular worship track was muddy and not very gripping either. The site in general is interesting in terms of content, but a bit cluttered in design, probably just due to the inherent shortcomings of myspace... So anyway, hope lots of other people answer the questions! Quote Truth is important

Not sure!!!!! 7) In the Millennium, will you be reigning with Jesus on earth or in heaven for the 1000yrs? In heaven from what I understand from my studying of the Bible and listening to many people that are far more intelligent than I am. 8) How long have you been a Christian—a follow of Jesus Christ? As long as I can remember, but at times not a very good one. 9) Are you committed to spreading the Good News of the Gospel to the entire world starting with your home-town? I am but have definitely not done a very good job of it. 10) Are you willing to live your life by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God—The Holy Bible? As best that my understanding allows with the help of Jesus. And no I have not been as of yet. Moderators Kevin H Posted February 4, 2009 Moderators Posted February 4, 2009 5) Do you follow the whole Bible—both old and new testaments? I'm getting ready to leave for work, and don't have time to go into much detail, but different parts of the Bible both reflect the growth of people at that time, as well as different points of view. The differences between the writings from the Northern kingdom and the writings from the southern kingdom. Were they writings from the Royal party with it's Royal Theology? Prietsly writings, or from the schools of the prophets? For example: Some (mostly later texts) condem worshiping at the high places, yet Samuel, Elijah and Elisha had their circut of high places. Do you worship in Jerusalem only. Are you a monothiest (there is only one God) or henothiest (Yahweh is the supream God and at the Hebrews should worship the King God directly while the nations are alloted to the lesser gods)? You can find both views in the Old Testament. These are not only limited to the Old Testament. Do you believe that Jesus went through his life affecting people, but that they were still relatively clueless not realy catching exactly who he was until that pagan Roman Centuran who was so ignorant of the truth that he proclaimed who Jesus was in a way that would shock any good monothiestic Jew. (the book of Mark) Or do you belive that people realized who Jesus was from before his birth, and that the pagan Roman Centuran was clueless except to say that he was a good man. (Luke) We study the Bible and respect the whole Bible as the word of God but relize that God worked with people where they were, and that the Bible is more a book teaching us about God than simply laying out the rules. We learn points that God finds very important, and those which are important but has more of a gray area. We learn about God's leading, and we learn how the Bible can change our hearts and lives.
