Dr. Shane Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 'I had milk so I breast-fed baby' The Ugly Betty star was visiting a hospital in war-torn Sierra Leone when she met a woman unable to feed her starving tot. Salma gladly came to her aid and fed the baby, ignoring the TV cameras. Salma said: "The baby was perfectly healthy, but the mother did not have any milk. "He was very hungry - I was weaning my daughter VALENTINA, but I still had a lot of milk, so I breast-fed the baby. [text from link] Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Administrators Gail Posted February 11, 2009 Administrators Posted February 11, 2009 That was compassionate of her! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
guibox Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 That was compassionate of her! Yes, and that boy has got some serious bragging rights to his teenage friends when he grows up! That will be real argument stopper right there. "Yeah? Well were YOU breast fed by Salma Hayek? Eh? EH??" Quote www.corbel.theacaistory.com
Dr. Shane Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 I think it is awesome that a high-profile mother is breast feeding. Of course, breast feeding made a big come back in Generation X. Many of the Baby Boomers felt liberated by baby formula so they no longer needed to breast feed. Many Generation Xers & Yers are not only breast feeding their children at home, but many businesses located in office buildings with day cares are allowing mothers breaks to breast feed their children. In fact, in the US, more and more educated women are choosing to breast feed their children while the less educated are more likely to use only baby formula. A mother breast feeding her child is a beautiful expression of love. That expression is magnified when the baby is from a stranger. I have heard of adoptive mothers being able to produce milk for an adopted infant. Beyond being a simple expression of love, it is a bonding experience between mother and child. My wife breast fed both of our children for almost two years each. Quote: That boy has got some serious bragging rights to his teenage friends when he grows up! Anyone who has been breast fed by their mother certainly has some bragging rights as it is a real expression of love. Sadly, I don't have those rights myself. Certainly someone who was breastfed by a stranger has a few more bragging rights - just like adopted children do. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
