The black president I want to see...

Recommended Posts

is someone who runs the country in the black (that means no red ink, for liberals who have never owned a business).

That would be a true "black" president. Run the country like an efficienct responsible business and avoid red ink.

Whaddya say?

Hey Olger, I agree.

Seriously, I get frustrated with the people so excited because we have a black president. They say they never expected to see it in their lifetime. Actually, I'm surprised it took this long. There are so many smart and talented people of all colors in our country. If only one of them had run for president before now, I sure one would have been elected. I know there are racist people in our country, but I believe there are far more people that are not racist.

I want a president that tells the truth, really tries to get our budget in line and stands up for what is right--if he/she happens to be black, brown, white, or purple,it really does not matter.

I think that Bob Barr would do a better job. Just my 15 year old political views.

The economy was messed up long before obama was elected. the economy tanking during the latter part of the presidential campaign was a main factor that got him elected.

As for him being black, or half black, etc. I personally try not to dwell on all that. No need in me trying to tackle that headache here. I never was under the delusion that he is a black democratic messiah. I hope his plans work. Because if they don't I, and a lot of other people will be feeling the results.

The same thing can be said of President Reagan and President G.W. Bush. Both of those Presidents inherited a tanking economy. I hope Obama can do as good as those two did with turning it around.

I think.....

We need to worry more about his content and his quality then is colour..

I wish they had thought of that BEFORE the election.

The ones who are thinking that way now were thinking of that before the election.

You think so, Catherine? I wonder who that might be.......he said wonderingly....

I don't see anything wrong with his charecter.

The economic mess that the Obama admin. inherited is much, much worse than anything Reagan, Bush or any other Prez has had to face.

Well Redwood I think you know as well as I do, that that is not what they were thinking. Just like the previous elections, people were tired of the party in charge and wanted a change. Now that we have that change the media wont allow him one moment of breathing room. He inherited a problem, and that doesn't mean that I blame Bush, lets see if he can do something. Don't forget when Clinton took office he inherited problems also and it took awhile to fix. Than he created his problems. When the next Bush took over he inherited those problems, and than created his own. And like someone has mentioned Obama has inherited the worst financial problem in our life time. So its going to take awhile to fix, if its fixable at all! And by the way good to see you back, had noticed that you did not post yesterday!

I don't think so. During the Great Recession of 1981 & '82 unemployment was over 10%, interest rates were over 21%, inflation was over 13%. We are no where near that now.

The current unemployment rate is 7.5% The current interest rate is .25% The current inflation rate is .09%.

Compare to the recession of 1990-'92. Unemployment was 7.8% Interest rate was 8%. Inflation over 5%.

So by comparison, our current economy is closer to the '90-'92 recession than the Great Recession of '81 & '82. We are no where close to the Great Depression.

There is a lot of fear mongering going on by politicians looking for public support of their programs. We need to be a little cautious before jumping on those band wagons.

Let us not forget that we have 2 wars fronts going on, to which was should be respectively removing outselves in a most dignified way....

The economoic spiral is still going down without much of a cushion....unless that stimulus gets on it's way post haste pronto...

Our American PR is basically shot up, and has come back up with with the election of Obbama, but it is still low. Our influence is not what it should be, and we have Russia flexing it's muscules again and we have China as a new player flexing it's muscles in the global econonmy....

And you want to compare it to sme minor depression?

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

The current administration hasn't been in office 3 months yet. If Obama, et al could turn this thing around in that small amount of time, and they probably will not, then the constitution should be amended to allow more than 2 terms in the white house. :) DB

Thanks for noticing pk. I've had the flu. And it is not much fun. Now ... I passed it onto Blanche so we both are suffering. Do you think that Obama can 'bail' the both of us out of this mess?
