aldona Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 You can see the van backing up in the moments before the train makes impact with the truck - I can just imagine the van driver thinking "OK, there's going to be one heck of a mess in a second...I'm outta here"! My husband has just obtained his heavy vehicle licence and I think they should put this in the rule book as an example of what can happen if you do not stop in time at a level crossing. aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? Members phkrause Posted February 15, 2009 Members Posted February 15, 2009 I can't believe that the driver didn't see the train coming! And since I didn't hear any sound with this video, I wonder if the train was blowing its whistle. And why the lights at the RR crossing didn't go off!!! But darlene said "ouch" is right!! pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Amelia Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 It appears to me to be an unmarked train crossing. No lights, no barrier. I also feel the train was going too fast for the area it was running through. I use to work with and around trains years ago and there are speed limits for trains just like for cars. The trucker could also have been trying to beat the train instead of waiting for it to pass. That's one of the reasons for crossing accidents.
