True-believer Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I spoke to my stepdad--Alex, and he is not a believer in Jesus because he is scard about commitment and also about DEATH....... Alex says that he does NOT want to become a follower of Jesus because his parents are not christians themselves............... If Alex became a Christian he does not want to know about his parents burning in HELL forever and forever for all eternity............. So Alex has a very tough decision to make?????????? Does he want to be a christian and see his parents burn in HELL for all eternity??????? OR......... Reject Jesus and His Church and spend time with his parents and burn in HELL together with Satan and his demons??????????????? Remember... The Protestant Churches all believe that sinners will burn forever, for all eternity......... I am having problems currently defending that sinners don't burn forever, because I am the only Adventist in my family, and I am finding it very hard to answer Alex very good question!!!!!!!! Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's urgent!!!!!!!!!! Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Moderators John317 Posted February 17, 2009 Moderators Posted February 17, 2009 Please let me know whether this helps. They are lots of scriptures on the topic. http://www.preparingforeternity.com/br1914/brhc114.htm Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. True-believer Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Thanks John317, That is a awesome website link you gave me. Quote Luke 4:19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Moderators John317 Posted February 17, 2009 Moderators Posted February 17, 2009 I hope and pray it can provide some help for you in your discussions and studies with your family. There are other chapters in that same section about what happens when we die and also on what the soul and spirit are. There's a lot there, but I wouldn't advise covering too much at one time. God bless!! Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
guibox Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Luke, if you can find a copy of Dr. Samuele Bacchiocchi's book "Immortality or Resurrection?" GET IT. It covers ALL the areas of eternal torment and immortality of the soul. It is, IMO, the best book he has written and many scholars from other denominations have endorsed this book. Also recommended is Edward Fudge's (a non-SDA) "The Fire That Consumes" Quote www.corbel.theacaistory.com

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
