Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted February 17, 2009 Moderators Posted February 17, 2009 Go to Recovery.gov to read the new Stimulus Package -- the entire law. Plus go back often to this site to see how the money is being used. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
Woody Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Please don't call it a 'Stimulus Law'. There is nothing stimulating about it. It is very depressing. It is a spending bill that will further spend us to death. The market recognizes that ... Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Members phkrause Posted February 17, 2009 Members Posted February 17, 2009 I think Redwood if you recall when Obama mentioned a few times that this was a spending bill! So yes it is depressing but we will see if it does what it is suppose to do! I for one I'm going to pray that it does. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Okay ... praying ... Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Okay ... praying ... I think I hear the tone, and it is not encouraging, oh ye of little faith.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Woody Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Look here ... at least I am making an effort. Give me some credit. Because a friend of mine asked me to pray ... I agreed to. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Look here ... at least I am making an effort. Give me some credit. Because a friend of mine asked me to pray ... I agreed to. "An effort?" ....praying is "an effort"???? on this side of the screen, along with all the other comments that you have made, it sounds more like rebellous resignation....IOWs, to place this into proverb, 'an unconvinced man, silenced by arguement, is still unconvinced.'.... ....or to place this into one of Neil's proverbs, "Man, who listens to FoxNews and or Rush Limbaugh, becomes man with erroded faith"....... Ok, so I'll never make it into the worlds great philsophers, so sue me already.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 18, 2009 Members Posted February 18, 2009 I read it. Sounded like a big stimulus if you're constipated. (Sorry - couldn't resist...) Really, it sounds like a lot of make-work for federal employees. If it ever gets down to doing what it is SUPPOSED to do, maybe it might help. But it won't in the short run. IMHO. And people need help NOW. Yes, please all *do* pray about the stimulus law now in effect... Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Members phkrause Posted February 18, 2009 Members Posted February 18, 2009 I for one Redwood do appreciate it, even if Neil is skeptical. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 18, 2009 Members Posted February 18, 2009 just FYI: Q: How can I contact the Administration with questions or comments about Recovery.gov and the recovery package? Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 19, 2009 Members Posted February 19, 2009 BTW, at the end of the video Obama at Recovery.gov states that this whole stimulus package is based on PROJECTIONS, not on present situations. We need help now...not a year from now. The feds couldn't manage the money they had previously - what makes anyone think the federal govt has a handle on how all *these* billions of dollars is going to be spent judiciously? **snort** I hope I'm wrong in my assessment of the situation. Woody Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 The Demos .... just LOVE 'projections'. It is a way of manipulating what they do based on info other than facts. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 sounds like there is not enough praying and too much complaining, Redwood Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Woody Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Sounds to me like you are the complainer. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted February 19, 2009 Members Posted February 19, 2009 Yes dgrimm, I meant the unemployment benefits. I just ran out of my benefits about 3 weeks ago. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 19, 2009 Members Posted February 19, 2009 I just read that all employee's everywhere will be getting pay increases due to the Stimulus Bill. You will be seeing an extra dollar or two in your paycheck every week, after deductions. The pay increase is $15/week. You should start seeing this massive infusion of personal wealth sometime in June or July. Of 2009, I believe. The Feds believe that this "drip infusion" of cash will stimulate buying by the consumer. They are serious. Now mind you, among most jobs that the Feds want to create, are jobs that require training. How long is it going to take to train these people to do quality work? Who's going to pay for the training? I don't want to drive over a bridge built by people who don't really know what they're doing. Same thing for railroad tracks. Can untrained people do other construction? Maybe some jobs, but not many, I don't think... We will know the Stimulus Bill is working when we don't hear so many reports of unemployment and foreclosures. Oh, brother. info from The Oregonian 2/18/09, a notoriously Democratic newspaper... Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators Bravus Posted February 19, 2009 Moderators Posted February 19, 2009 What alternative proposal did you have in mind that was going to instantly fix the economy? Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted February 19, 2009 Moderators Posted February 19, 2009 Basically, it's a mess 30 years in the making, and if it can start getting turned around in 6-12 months it'd be a miracle. Quote Truth is important
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 19, 2009 Members Posted February 19, 2009 What alternative proposal did you have in mind that was going to instantly fix the economy? I never said anything about instantly fixing the economy. It can't be done. The point of my post was to show how ludicrous the Stimulus Bill can get. (But the paying off of mortgages was a great idea, IMHO!!!! That would have helped so many people. Too bad that wasn't part of the Stimulus package.) Woody Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Yes. I agree with you on that one Pam. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
olger Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I heard a great quote on Monday. "If we prevent people from failing, we prevent them from succeeding." Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Woody Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Then we would not have banks and we would not be able to get a loan. Look at all the Billions of dollars they are getting from the government and still are. Do we let them fail? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Cosmin M. Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Wow. I heard the stimulus was like 1000 pages. Is it true? And also is Obama going to sign it without knowing what it is? Quote
