Joe_in_RP Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 One of the most toxic substance in the world. .....But as it turns out, the HFCS industry has been hiding some major skeletons in its closet -- according to the IATP study (pdf), over 30% of products containing the substance tested positive for mercury. What makes this news truly shocking is not just that the manufacturers of high fructose corn syrup would put consumers' health at risk, but that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) knew about the mercury in the syrup, and has been sitting on this information since 2005...... Joe_in_RP Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 Americans are being poisoned by a common additive present in a wide array of processed foods like soft drinks and salad dressings, commercially made cakes and cookies, and breakfast cereals and brand-name breads. This commonplace additive silently increases our risk of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. The name of this toxic additive is high-fructose corn syrup. It is so ubiquitous in processed foods and so over-consumed by the average American that many experts believe our nation faces the prospect of an epidemic of metabolic disease in the future, related in significant degree to excess consumption of high-fructose corn syrup..... Moderators Bravus Posted February 19, 2009 Moderators Posted February 19, 2009 Many smart people believe that this substance is the majority cause of the obesity epidemic. And when you see Americans sucking down bathtub-size cups of softdrinks that are basically water, HFCS and some colours and flavours, and eating heaps, it's easy to believe. Mind you, the diet versions aren't a lot better - I've just quit Diet Coke because a medically trained friend said it's a known effect that about 10% of people get joint pain from aspartame, and I'd been getting joint pain. We'll see in a few weeks whether I feel better. Currently drinking bathtub-sized bottles of water - zero calories, zero additives, tastes great! Quote Truth is important
Cosmin M. Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Why can't we all move to drinking water? What, you think God's drinking a can of Coke? No. Quote
Members phkrause Posted February 19, 2009 Members Posted February 19, 2009 Bravus many years ago my wife wanted to get into a exercise program which also included a diet also. She found a program from mormon school, not sure the name anymore. But one of the the things that they brought out was that diet soda's are worst for you than the regular drinks. They claimed that the screwed with your metabolism. It was an interesting program. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Members phkrause Posted February 20, 2009 Members Posted February 20, 2009 You need to look at the ingredients on the label dgrimm. I make my own bread. Buy the flour from the ABC. Now anytime I buy bread from the store, which isn't very often, I can tell the difference. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
