Most people familiar with Mathew 24:40 believe that this is speaking of an end time rapture involving two different people, one goes with God and the other is destroyed or left behind to suffer tribulation.

But let's think outside the box for a moment. With scripture we will soon see that this verse is actually hiding an incredible truth that at this point in Christian history, 99.9% do not see.

Mark 4:12 [refers to things not being understood or being what they are perceived to be...]

Mathew 24:40 is actually speaking of one person circumcised by the word of God. When the Word first came to you, you were cut in two, separating the old man (flesh), from the new man (inward man).

1John 3:8,9 displays this hidden truth perfectly.

[in] Mt 8:5-10 [Jesus commends the great faith of the Roman centuriun.]

Faith in what? The power of the word

So what is happening is the Word is circumcising us and the Sword of the Spirit (the Word) is the circumcising tool God uses.

John 15:1,2 is an excellent example of the circumcision happening without people even realizing it:

[Verse 2] the cutting verse [where it speaks of pruning the dead branch from the vine]: (There are thousands)

But look at the next verse [verse 3] that seems like it comes out of nowhere and doesn't make sense.

Brace yourself because this is beautiful -[it speaks of being cleansed by the Word]

Remember what Jesus said in John chapter 6?

[Read] specifically John 6:53 [and 63] He reveals in the same chapter exactly what is represented by his flesh remembering the key word here is life.

Now read John 15:3 again

The baptism ritual shows this perfectly, the water representing the Word of God which kills the flesh but coming out of the water the inward man who cannot sin. 1John 3:9

your thoughts are very welcome

Um, interesting thoughts, but I'm pretty sure one of the rules of this subforum is to give the references to the texts but not quote the bodies of them...

Bravus, I have now had an opportunity to run the posts through my editorial Cuisinart.

Michael, for future posts on this sub-forum please state in your own words what you understand a verse to be saying. The objective here is to consider one another's original thoughts. We assume that Scripture is the seed from which our thoughts sprout. But the growth of thought (the flower and fruit) from that seed is what we are cultivating here. We understand and accept the seed that is planted and hidden in the ground where it takes root.

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

I have to disagree with you. The ones taken are actually taken to destruction. In Luke 17:34-37 Jesus gives the same parable. Yet in Luke his disciples ask where are they taken? Jesus [replies that the body is where the eagles will be gathered.] And notice in Matthew 24:28 [the same thing.]

So you can see, they are taken to destruction. Just like the flood took the wicked away in Noah's day. The people who are left do not see death. Since "death" here on earth is just a sleep before eternal life. That is if you have chosen eternal life.

And yeah, this parable is often used to prove some sort of non-existent rapture. If they would only read on.

Actually no,it is what is says one will be taken and th other one left ie the second coming of Christ,Mark refers to the knowledge and Spirit of God and how are eyes are opened to God versus the non believer its the parable of the sower where Christ states those on the outside hear in parables but don't understand because they dont have the insight from the Holy Spirit.Therefor all is confusing without the guidance of God.The complete context of Matt 24:36-51 Christ is talking about the fortelling of His return and that the hour is unknow and to keep a watchfull eye for His return these two books talk of two different things, you gain knowledge of Speitual things through Christ and through Matthew we know that we cant fortell His coming.

the ones taken are the saved as angels will reach down for us as we are transformed they will not touch the earth and as we reach up white roes will appear upon us we will stand with Christ overlooking the earth as others cry out to Him as we look down on the lost. Then we will see angels gather them up into the winepress mentioned in Revelation and the blood will flow out of it as described this will be the first death as those who are righteouss will witness all that is fortold in Revelation.By His return we will have to be pure at heart and the word written upon our mind for the just actions of the Lord will be done.Christ said do not love the things of this world and be not a part of it,we as children of God have become a member of another world that Christ has planned for us.When we take part in judging the dead it will be justified and righteouss through the commandments of God and a righteouss judgement so that there will be no doubt or question among any of creation that this has been done. One thousand years will satan walk this earth and see the destruction of the Lord and he will know he has lost before Christ and His Saints return for the second reserection,a thousand years for satan and his followrs to know the end is at hand before all lost are thrown into the fire and destroyed.I beg you all to ask the Holy Spirit this be rvealed as purity is at hand in these last days,we have to turn from this world and the things in it.Its getting to that point now as more and more hate Christians.

In Luke 17:37 the disciples ask Him. Where are they taken? Where Lord? Where did they go? Where did the other guy go? This is what they ask Jesus after He tells the parable. Jesus responded with where the body is the eagles will gather. So where the body is, the birds will be there. You can compare Luke 17:37 with Matthew 24:28. Jesus once again says where the carcass is, the birds will gather. Where there are dead bodies, is where the birds will be eating.

Revelation 19:21 shows how the birds will feast on the remains after Christ and the saints are gone.

To get a better understand of the ones who are left. Read Zechariah 13:8-9. It speaks of two parts being cut off to die. The third part is left though. Verse 9 says the third part will go through fire to be refined, made pure.

You can look at it like this. The ones who are left, are alive. The dead in Christ are resting and are really not dead. So they are alive because they will see eternal life. While the ones who are taken, are not of Christ. They are taken to destruction. They lose their life.

i do agree with that amen, seems alot of people mis inerpret the raputer from that verse and think we will be taken while the others continue to live on.

yeah, I was brought up with that belief...

one gets taken, and the other one is left behind...

just watch the Left Behind movies...

the secret Rapture of the Church, then seven years tribulation on earth by the Anti-Christ--one last chance to accept Jesus, and then The Church will return to earth with Jesus at the end of the 7yrs in His 2nd Coming and rule and reign with Him on earth for a thousand yrs... reigning over all the wicked people in the world.

It doesn't sound too Biblical...does it???

I was never brought up believing that. But have heard that.
